Like many gamers, I was very upset by the announcement that Nintendo would no longer be including chargers in with 3DS consoles. However, after trying a 3rd party, I experienced plenty of issues, and buying the official charger solved them. This is one product that (unfortunately) you don't want to skip out on if you are planning to play with your 3DS.

I used a tape measure (see photo), it's 190 cm, or 6 ft 2 in, now that's out of the way: If you had one that came with your original 3DS, this is identical to it. If you just bought a "new 3DS" that doesn't come with the charger, this review is for you. Pros: + Did I mention that it's very long? It's 190 cm, or 6 ft, 2 in. + Sturdy build. + Foldable head. + Official Nintendo hardware, no fears of breaking your battery. Cons: - A little expensive. - Not micro-USB. You're SOL if you left it at home. Compatible with the original 3DS, 3DS XL, new 3DS, new 3DS XL, and 2DS. Does not include the gaming system, charger only.

Genuine Nintendo charger. I had to open this one up and check because I received it without the box sure enough it’s OEM. You can actually tell by the type of torx security screws that Nintendo uses on them. I will post a picture of this one compared to a non genuine one that I purchased few days ago that failed after 1 day. First photo is the one I got from this listing. It outputs the correct voltage and it's not as flimsy as the knock off charger. I will get a spare one just to have in case one fails or gets lost.
