A platform video game developed and published by Nintendo for the SNES console. Despite its title, this game serves as a prequel to all other games within the established Mario Bros timeline. While featuring Nintendo's trademark Mario character, the game's graphics and gameplay differed from all previous Mario games in that players control various Yoshi dinosaurs rather than Mario himself, who appears as a helpless infant.

I purchased this game for my son, because he love Yoshi so I thought this would be the perfect game for him. When I read the description of the game it said no where that it required the gun to play the game. So I bought my son a game that he can not play. He was so excited knowing he was getting a new game in the mail, only to find out to my dismay that he could not play it. So I had a very upset four yr old lil boy. I thought that was really bad that the seller did not include this very important information as to what was needed to play this game. I would send this game back if I knew how and that I could. It is serving no purpose so I will never buy from that seller again.

The game itself is just okay...it's weird to have a Nintendo FPS, that and the storyline is really bad. Just be forewarned that you need the plug-in rifle to play this game, and the game does not come with it automatically.

Unlike most Mario games this one is a rail based first-person shooter. You ride Yoshi and shoot all the enemies with the super scope instead of stomping on them. I think that the concept is good and it's a pretty fun game. Only downside is that it's very easy to beat; I only died once on my first play-through. Overall, I feel that this is one of the best snes games available that uses the super scope.
