This lens (made in China) really is a gem in the Nikon lens line with excellent image quality, good bokeh and very sharp across the frame. If you do your research you'll find this lens has excellent reviews everywhere and with good reason. The body appears to be a polycarbonate plastic which should take bumps well. My lens had a smooth moving focus ring with no backlash. 85mm is a popular focal length for portraits, but this lens could be used for many other types of pictures with the exception of macro since you can't focus too close to your subject. Focus is internal and pretty quick, consistent and accurate. Comes with a good size lens hood and soft carry pouch. It is also reasonably light weight and balances well on a DSLR. I believe the internals are mostly plastic versus metal on the f/1.4G version (built for heavier professional use). This lens probably produces at least 90% of the image quality of it's bigger brother f/1.4G at about 1/4 of the price and represents outstanding value.
