- Reviewed in Canada on January 2, 2022Verified PurchaseThis lens had become my main lens since I got it two weeks ago for my Z6ii. It is as good as the reviews suggest, and it covers the range from 24-200 mm with few compromises. For daytime landscape photography, I generally shoot at about f/8 - f/16 and this covers it fine. Only in low-light situations do I put on a faster lens. Other than its variable aperture, the only other major compromises are lack of an auto-manual focus switch, and despite having VR in-lens stabilization, there is no VR switch on the lens. These are limitations I knew about ahead of time and they keep the cost affordable. It's not an "S" lens, but I haven't used my 24-70 f/4 S since this arrived and have not noticed a significant difference in quality sacrificed to obtain the phenomenal focus-length reach. A great versatile and portable walkaround and travel lens.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 22, 2024Verified PurchaseThe sharpest zoom lens I have ever owned, sharp across the entire range. Some vignetting at 24mm wide open but easily correctable with post-processing.

- Reviewed in Canada on October 13, 2022Verified PurchaseI have several Z lenses, including the 24-70mm kit lens. This one gets the most use out of all. This isn't part of the 'S' line of Nikon lenses but unless you're a pro with strict requirements, this lens is a must. It'll save you money by not buying some others. Get this one first and then decide which other lens you may need.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 20, 2020Verified PurchaseI bought this lens as my first Z lens for my Nikon Z6 camera. I expect to use it as a travel lens(when we're allowed to travel again). I have used it for shooting some video and some stills over the last month with very good results. I particularly like the weight of it and the smoothness of the zoom barrel. The only unfortunate part is that it is not f4 throughout the full range of zoom, however, I knew that when I purchased it and will live with it. Overall very happy with this purchase.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 17, 2023Verified PurchaseI wish it had a wider aperture, but the lightweight makes it a very nice travel lens due to the wide zoom range. Having the built in stabilizer helps with small aperture in low light conditions, fast autofocus.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 13, 2021Verified PurchaseThis lens is superb in quality and design. I enjoy the zoom range especially with the Z50 with a 1.5 crop factor. The F/4 aperture is fine for this price range. Its nice that the lens has VR which allows me to shoot at lower shutter speed that usual.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 2, 2024Verified PurchaseI purchased this lens based on several YouTube reviews claiming how sharp it was for landscape photography. Unfortunately, after trying three different copies, I did not find it really suitable for anything more than casual snapshots. It just doesn't have the resolution or contrast for detailed landscape photos on a 45 megapixel camera..
- Reviewed in Canada on September 12, 2022Verified PurchaseThe bad: Softer than the less than Stellar 28-300mm it was supposed to replace.
The Good: VR is good enough for old shaky here, to handhold 200mm at 1/2sec and get a shake free image

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for traveling
Verified PurchaseThe Nikon 24-200 lens I recently acquired is nothing short of exceptional! Its versatile range, ideal for travel photography, has opened up a world of creative possibilities. The lightweight design is a boon for on-the-go photographers like me, ensuring I can capture stunning shots without feeling weighed down by heavy equipment. While it's true that this lens falls on the expensive side, the investment is undoubtedly worth it for the unparalleled image quality it delivers. The sharpness, clarity, and color rendition are truly outstanding, making every photo a masterpiece. If you're willing to stretch your budget a bit, this Nikon lens is a must-have for any serious photographer who wants to travel on a single or dual lens system. It's a five-star gem that elevates my photography to new heights!

5.0 out of 5 stars sharp and light
Verified PurchaseThis replaces a non-Nikon 28-300mm general purpose lens, and surpasses it in every way. I miss the 300mm range but appreciate the wider 24mm end as well which is more useful in close quarters. I also own Nikon's 24-70mm and echo the opinion of many reviewers that this is just as sharp - which is pretty sharp indeed. It may be a tad softer round the edges wide open but honestly its more academic that a factor in the real world. Yes it goes to f6.3 pretty quickly in the zoom range, but with today's cameras you can up your ISO a lot without getting too noisy. It has minimal to insignificant distortion and CA is also kept well under control.
When used on the 45.7MP sensor of the Z7/ Z72 you also have plenty of room for cropping, thus utilizing the best part of the lens, and makes it very useful for birds, insects and general close up work. I have yet to try it for portraits but have any confidence it will shine there too.
I shoot professionally, and have several prime and top grade lenses to compare it to. I have been really impressed with the 24-200mm's performance. While it might not be as absolutely as sharp as some of them it is not too far off, and for an all purpose lens it makes far less compromises that you would expect. The enclosed shot is a moderate crop from about 150mm and has a nice bokeh as well.
