I’ve tested a few different New Bee products, and have been consistently impressed by the value they offer for the price range. This rechargeable tuner isn’t quite perfect, but I love that it’s USB C rechargeable, and it even comes with a spare rechargeable Li-ion 2032 battery!
Like most clip-ons, it has several tuning modes for different instruments (chromatic, guitar, uke, bass, violin), and generally works quite well. I was especially impressed by the bass mode, which was one of the best I’ve used. Many tuners struggle with the low B string, but this had no problems.
The display is clear and easy to read, but I find it visually unappealing. It works well enough, but I wish it would light green when you reach the proper pitch like other tuners do. Tuning is pretty accurate, but you have to pay a bit more attention while tuning. I prefer the green screen since it’s so much faster and easier during a practice or gig.
Build quality is standard for a clip-on, and range of motion is fairly good. The rechargeable battery can easily be swapped out if necessary, but you’ll need a screwdriver to remove the retaining screw. I was very impressed that they included a spare rechargeable battery in this price range, as well.
Even though I’m not a particular fan of the display, this is a good little tuner for the money. I think $15.99 is an exceptionally good deal for a rechargeable tuner, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
