- Reviewed in Canada on July 5, 2025This 100% pure calcium lactate powder is exactly what I needed for my kitchen projects! It’s food grade, gluten-free, and vegan, making it super versatile for everything from baking breads and pastries to using in dairy products. It really helps maintain the shape of food and neutralize acidity without affecting flavor. The 7 oz size is generous and goes a long way.
My only regret is that it’s made in China—I would have preferred a product manufactured in Canada. That said, the quality is excellent, and I’ve had great results using it. Definitely a solid addition to any home baker’s pantry!

- Reviewed in Canada on June 29, 2025This is a powder, not capsules. It can be added to any liquid you want, in order to increase dietary calcium. 3/5 stars because the instructions are only on the box and not the bottle, and because 2/3 tsp is a very strange dosage to recommend. Who has a measuring spoon that size??

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, and a great value for the quantity.
This calcium lactate powder arrived sealed for freshness and the container was nearly filled to the brim. This 7oz size is a great value for the price, and will last for quite a long time. Shelf life is given as about 24 months but the expiry date is 5 years out (I assume this is if it's kept sealed). It is stated to be dairy free, soy free, gluten free, yeast free, sugar free, and free of any additives. For those wishing to use it as a supplement, the serving size is 1500mg, or 2/3tsp, which provides 200mg or 15% DV of calcium.
The powder is granular, a bit more coarse than table salt. It dissolves very well in hot water, but not so much so in cold water. It has a sort of bitter, kind of tangy taste to it that I don't care for, but it isn't very strong and can be masked by juice or flavorings.
I got it to use in combination with sodium alginate, hoping to yield some popping boba. For lack of a kitchen scale, I haven't gotten the proportions right yet, but making squishy, jellied blobs has proven to be almost as fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make edible bubbles
Yes, this stuff is perfect for making "edible bubbles" or popping boba. You can combine a sodium alginate solution with calcium lactate and when mixed they will form gels. You can try out a lot of different liquids to form fun bubbles for your drinks. This food grade product comes in a safety sealed container with plenty of powder to mix up to try this out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Calcium lactate - no complaints
There are plenty of uses for Calcium Lactate; I got this for use in molecular gastronomy - which is a fancy way of saying fancy food using science. I am experimenting with making sugar-free gummies, using LMA (Low Methoxyl Amidated) pectin. Regular (HMA) pectin requires both sugar and acid to gel. LMA pectin requires calcium ions for gelling; Calcium Lactate is a good source.
As shown in the product description video, it is a granular powder that dissolves well in warm water. It has a mild flavor which is hard to describe - faintly astringent, with a tiny bit of acid? The container has a best-by date of April 2030; there is not much that can go old in a pure powdered chemical compound. The price is quite reasonable, especially when buying a small quantity and it comes in a permanent, sealable container rather than a leaky zip-lock pouch
The cap has Chinese characters and a weird little triangular point that seems pointless, but that might scratch a finger.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good healthy product
I’m using this to boost my calcium intake so will update few weeks from now but so far so good. I noticed my leg cramps seem to have gone away so maybe this has something to do with it? Either way I’m happy with that. No stomach aches but I do notice it clumps up a bit in water. I appreciate that this form of calcium has high bioavailability. This is reasonably priced for the quality. I will continue to incorporate this into my daily diet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dissolves instantly and completely in hot water
Although I bought this calcium lactate to add shelf life to my homemade breads, I also use it to feed my tomato plants. The soft granules instantly dissolve in a little hot, almost boiling, water, then I mix it with cool water to enrich the soil to ward off blossom end rot on my Roma tomatoes. A little goes a long way, so this bottle will last a long time.
