Product description

- Neewer Wireless Flash Trigger for Canon

- The Neewer Photo wireless flash trigger receiver and transmitter can serve you in a multitude of functions.

- To use this set as a wireless remote control, plug in the included C-Cable to both the receiver and your camera's compatible input. Make sure the receiver's and the transmitter's switches are set to ""CAMERA"" mode and then use the transmitter to wirelessly autofocus and take pictures.

- Similarly you can employ a wired remote method simply by plugging in the C-Cable to the transmitter alone and proceeding to use this without the receiver.

- Finally, if you wish to use this pack for wireless flash / studio flash triggering purposes, first attach the transmitter to your camera's hot shoe mount. Attach your flash to the hot shoe mount of the receiver and make sure the switches are set to ""FLASH"" mode and you can proceed to position the flash however you desire and take photos normally.

This is a really nice kit. It can act as either a remote shutter trigger OR a remote flash trigger, and it comes with all of the cables needed for most camera types.

It looks good attached to the flash shoe of a DSLR, and operation is as simple as any remote shutter device (half-press for focus, press all the way to snap a picture), and neither transmitter nor receiver is too bulky or heavy.

A couple of minor downsides: unlike some other models, you can't plug the trigger (the one with a button) directly into the camera's remote trigger port to give you a wired trigger. Also, on both pieces, there's a slider to change its mode from camera to delay, to video. Unfortunately, the OFF position is in the middle; it would have been better if OFF were far left or far right. That said, the unit does flash green or red to indicate that it's on.

I wasn't expecting a lot from these but ended up getting 4 in total, and they work perfectly! Make sure you read the instructions as setting up the channels is a bit strange if you're used to transceivers with digital screens. If you're going to take these for a shoot make sure you pack extra batteries. I'd recommend these for anyone who wants transceivers but doesn't want to/can't afford to fork over $100+ for each one. Great product and will probably purchase again in the future!

I use this product for off camera lighting on my Fujifilm X-E2 camera. I very rarely use TTL, and when I do I usually have the flash mounted on camera. Before buying these I was using the pop-up flash on my Fuji in commander mode, and set my speedlights as optical slaves. If you put a piece of C-41 colour film over the built in flash, it will dampen most of the visible light but allow some IR light through, thereby triggering the optical slaves. The film "hack" worked better than I thought, but it was still inconsistent depending on the subject and room I was shooting in. These remotes will trigger very reliably, and I now no longer need to rely on the pop-up flash.

This product is great for the price, however I have to minus one star because for some reason, one of my flashes no longer syncs at 180 when using these remotes. The Fuji XE2 has a sync speed of 180. My Nissin i40 flash, which was very expensive, only syncs at 160 when it is triggered using this remote. However, my cheap Neewer TT560 flash *will* sync at 180 when triggered remotely, and futher, if the Nissin i40 is optically slaved, and triggered by the Neewer flash, the Nissin will then sync at 180. Both flashes will sync at 180 if triggered directly by the camera, or optically through the commander mode. Very strange, but I guess there must be some small delay in the triggering mechanism that causes the Nissin not to sync at 180 anymore. I guess the lesson is don't buy expensive flash units :D. If you are using a camera with a 250 sync speed, check all your flashes to make sure they will sync properly at that shutter speed.

As a bonus, this remote control set also works as a remote shutter for the Fuji XE2. Just slide the switch to "camera" for both transmitter and receiver, connect the receiver to the Fuji using the 2.5mm TLR plug (supplied in box), and half press the transmitter button to focus, full press to release the shutter. The transmitter can also be triggered by PC sync cord in case you have a camera without a hot shoe. Really nice product for the value, I'm keeping it despite the sync issue with my flash. I haven't tested battery life yet but I will update this review if that is an issue.

I purchased this to replace a system Ive had for overs 15 years. My old one wouldnt permit the use of an attached flash on the camera.
What a letdown! I had a number of issues. They are:
    - when I attached the cable from the piece on the flash shoe to the camera and then turned the camera on, absolutely nothing worked. After wiggling the adapter attached to the camera, the viewfinder display worked. Thats the good news. The bad news is that the remote would only trip the shutter occasionally, and only on shutter speed priority.
    - then attached my Speedlite flash to the receivers shoe. The flash cycled on/off as if there was a short circuit. More wiggling of the cable and it stopped cycling. Next, when depressing the button on the handheld remote control, the flash would fire, but the shutter wouldnt trip.
Needless to say, this unit is being returned today.

Just what I needed, so far it has proven to be as advertised, I originally bought this to accompany my manual telephoto lens I purchased, as the telephoto lens needs to be absolutely still otherwise I was getting blurry pictures. With this set up I can get those pictures by just setting up the camera and remotely engaging the shutter and best thing no movement of the camera = beautiful clear pictures.

    Works very well for me.
I use the camera trigger for self portraits and the flash trigger for clients. Works great. Works with my old canon 50D and Neewer Flash as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Canon Neewer FC-16 works.
Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2015

Canon Neewer FC-16: Have only used for 1 photographic event so far but it worked consistently in an outdoor environment from distances of 30+ ft. without any issue. This puts it ahead of many other "Made in China" wireless flash trigger. I have not yet tested the remote shutter feature for a photo shoot but in the tests conducted it worked as intended.

One thing about this model I specifically liked is that is uses standard AAA batteries and, while this may make the model heavier than those with "built-in" or crummy coin batteries it makes it a lot easier to ensure that fresh batteries are used for every photo session and, based on the manufacturer specifications, the batteries should last for 2 or 3+ photo sessions if absolutely needed with fully charged batteries or lithium.

A complaint I've seen in other reviews regarding the trigger's ability to wirelessly and accurately transfer ETTL data to the flash I suspect is closer to user error than a problem with the trigger. Most triggers that are not very close by to the camera will work best with a manual flash and camera setting so that the flash isn't over or under exposing the image as the flash will have no idea that is is or is not attached to the body of the camera. If not using a Canon brand flash, most flashes will not be able to judge this information as accurately anyway as they will typically have been engineered to work with multiple cameras and brands with only the base adapter/software changes to the flash unit. Still, when testing in fully automatic mode, the photos still turned out resonably well with the Neewer trigger and flash set up about 7 ft. from the camera body but at roughly the same distance to the subject as the camera body. This suggests that the Neewer FC-16 (or at least the one I recieved) is working properly with all the features advertised.

I will have to see if it maintains it's 5-star rating after a few more photo session, only time will tell, but given that comparable reliable 2.4 GHz flash triggers such as the Pocket Wizard are close to $300 on 鶹 as of this posting, for $25 for what you are getting I'd say is a pretty good deal.

Remote has a very good range on it, I got connection from 60ft away. Half press the shutter button on the remote to focus the camera, and press all the way to fore the shutter. Very responsive, no apparent lag. Can be used take a single shot, or set the camera to burst and it works just fine. Very happy with my purchase, I think value for money for what you get in the box, would thoroughly recommend
