    Feels and looks far more robust and premium than the pictures suggest. The grid bars are approximately 7 mm in diameter. Legs are perfectly machined and the grid fits with no rattling nor any bending. The joints are all nicely finished and solid.

    Not surprisingly, the grid heats up and cools down faster than the cast iron grid and don't leave as prominent searing marks. However the convenience, ease of maintenance, and almost certainly longevity, make this an excellent upgrade in my opinion, and a great match to the grid in the main barbeque. Plus with the grid cooling down faster you can handle it for cleaning and storage much faster than the cast iron.

    It would have been nice to keep the wave pattern of the main grill, and I would have liked the grid to have slightly tighter spacing (14 mm between bars).

    The Prestige 500 and other midrange models ship with the cast iron version of this. Only the Pro and higher end ones ship with this stainless grate. The problem is that the side burner is so hot and intense, no amount of seasoning on cast iron will stay. So, inevitably, the cast iron will rust regardless with how much you season or what oil you use to season. This stainless steel replacement is great. Thick, heavy and holds pretty good heat. Not a big deal but it is made overseas and not in Canada.

    When we purchased our Napolean grill last year we loved the stainless steel grating in the main grill space. The side sear burner area has a coated cast iron grate as the stainless grate was an upgrade for the higher priced version. We keep the grill covered always but after a year the back side of the cast iron grating started flaking off the coating and rust. So we purchased this unit and it is the perfect replacement.
    Fits perfect, the legs line up perfect, cleans easily, no rust. And not that it is a huge deal, but it cools off a little faster too when you are done grilling and ready to close things up.
    This is a keeper!

    Best upgrade for Napoleon prestige!! That cast iron junk that came standard on my 665 prestige was horrible!! Meat never seared properly,, and always stuck! I replaced it with this SS grate and what a difference!! I just washed it first, put it the infrared burner and seasoned it with some grape seed first… steaks sear perfect now!!! Once you get used to using your sear station,,,,, this grate is awesome!!
