I am very pleasantly surprised at how easily my sensitive stomach was able to tolerate the Natural Integrativie Health GUT RESTORE. I chose Gut Restore to try and calm the tummy inflammation and discomfort I have been experiencing. I love that the NIH ingredients don’t contain any artificial allergens or additives which minimizes the chance that I will react to something, and shows a true commitment to NIH’s product quality and ideals. The lemon taste is pleasant and has a faint licorice flavour, and I can customize the intensity of the flavour by changing how much water I mix it up in. I use a small battery powered whisk to make sure the powder mixes well and I have found this very quick and effective as others have indicated that they have had problems getting it to dissolve completely. I am really impressed that the the Gut Restore contains N-Acetyl Glucosamine and L-Glutamine to help maintain gut lining strength and I am hoping over time this will improve my stomach issues. NIH is Canadian made and GMP certified to ensure that medicinal products are consistently produced and controlled something I always look for in a supplement. However, I was surprised that the container was only about 1/3 full (as in the picture) so the size of the container isn’t really representative of how much you are getting. While this might not be the best environmental practice it still deserves every one of its 5 stars.

    I'm pretty happy with this Gut Restore powder from NIH. The quick version of this review is that I like the product, it does seem to help a bit, the taste is reasonable, and I'd probably use it again - however it's not a life changing complete solution to all gut-related problems. I'll expand a bit below:

    So first of all - with any supplement - one of the most important things is being able to trust what you're getting. So many scandals in the news about "fly-by-night" supplement companies selling products that don't actually contain the ingredients they are supposed to, substandard ingredients - or worse possibly containing harmful things that aren't on the label. So perhaps the most important thing about this particular product - is that it's made by NIH (Natural Integrated Health). They are a Canadian company, based in Quebec, and have been certified by Health Canada. Their products are government tested, and I feel good knowing that I am getting a properly certified and tested supplement.

    Next - to the specifics of this Gut Restore product. So the ingredient list is a powerhouse of good things, which all make sense to me as being beneficial for gut health. From my reading, the dosage levels seem appropriate and reasonable - and based just on the ingredient list and dosage levels, I would expect this product to have some positive effects on my gut health. It arrived nicely packaged, and properly sealed, so on to the quality of the powder itself.

    I wouldn't describe it as "delicious" - it's not something my mouth will have cravings for, nor will I be tempted to sneak in an extra dose because it's just so darn tasty! But having said that - for a "gut health" product (most of which are NOT designed to be tasty) this one is actually pretty good. I don't mind the flavor, and I'm not at all discouraged from drinking it. It goes down well, I feel no need to rinse my mouth out immediately after (like I have with some other products out there). So for a gut-health product I'd give it a 7/10 for taste.

    How well does it work? Well the main thing for me is that it actually DOES have a positive effect. It has quelled an upset tummy for me after just one use, and regular use has me feeling more positively, uhm - regular (in a good way). I feel less gassy overall, less bloated. It's not a night/day amazing life-changing type of difference, but rather a subtle - yet noticeable one. I think this is precisely what a natural supplement should be, is a positive influence - not a miracle cure.

    Overall - Gut Restore has met or exceeded my expectations. I have used dozens if not hundreds of different supplements over the years in my quest to maintain a high level of athleticism as I age, and some are a total waste of time/money and some are actually beneficial - the key is to set realistic expectations. What we have here is a well designed product with a blend of supplements - most all of which are things the average person would never get enough of in their daily diet - and together as a total package they have made a positive difference in my gut health. Overall I'm happy to give it 4-stars, losing one star because the beneficial effects for me (while noticeable) are mild, and the taste is reasonable, but not delicious. I reserve my 5-star ratings for products that I feel are complete "must-have" amazing things. This product is very good, and for anyone with mild gut related issues is worth a shot. If you need a significant amount of help with your guts, this isn't what you are looking for - you should talk to your doctor.
