AAO frame

Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua's proprietary Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan's performance/noise efficiency.

3000rpm industrialPPC version

Running twice as fast as the 1500rpm retail version, the NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 provides extreme airflow and pressure performance. Combined with the industrialPPC series' robust polyamide construction and advanced protection features, this makes the fan ideal for challenging industrial applications.

Three-phase motor design

While most axial fans use single-phase motors with 4 slots, Noctua's industrialPPC fans feature a three-phase design with 6 slots, which provides smoother transitions between the slots and thus allows for even higher running smoothness, further reduced vibrations and unprecedented energy efficiency.

IP52 water- and dust protection

Thanks to a special varnish coating that covers the motor and PCB, the NF-A14 industrialPPC complies with the ingress protection rating IP52. This means that it is not only highly dust resistant but also withstands dripping water equivalent to 3mm rainfall per minute.

Fibre-glass reinforced polyamide construction

Both the impeller and the frame of Noctua’s industrialPPC fans are made entirely from fibre-glass reinforced polyamide. This material can withstand temperatures up to 140°C and makes the fans even more robust and break-proof than Noctua’s standard fibre-glass reinforced PBT fans.

Please Note:

The industrialPPC models are high-speed fans for industrial applications. As such, they are not as quiet as other Noctua fans and less suited for low-noise PC builds.

Felt I had to give this a review to clear up some misconceptions about this fan. It IS up to Noctua's legendary standards of low noise, IF you have the correct expectations. The wrong comparison would be to gaming PC or office computer fans. Yes, compared to the standard PC case fans, this thing raises a huge racket. But this fan and the whole iPPC product line in general is not for gaming PCs. It's for if you have a serious need for cooling. I bought this fan to cool some Seagate Exos enterprise drives, which if they are not actively cooled, get over 55C. Imagine that amount of heat, for a hard drive. The right comparison would be to fans found in the datacentre: Delta, Sanyo-Denki, etc. that make very high RPM fans for 1U and 2U chassis. Like in the 7000-10000 RPM range in a 40mm fan. THOSE are noisy.

For a server, it's a VERY quiet fan. I'm using a Fractal Design Node 304, so the airflow through the front panel is very poor. I put this fan in as the exhaust fan, and it dropped temps on my drives a lot. The noise is comparable to an actively cooled switch like the Aruba S3500. If you compare it to something like a Compellent SC200 disk shelf, it makes DRAMATICALLY less noise, even after I modded the Compellent and replaced the fans with Noctuas. I keep my home lab in my garage, and with the door closed, I can't hear a thing. With the Compellent, you could hear it standing 3 feet away from the closed garage door. So unless I'm doing work in the garage, the noise this fan generates is a complete non-issue, because I can't hear it at all from inside the house.

It's relatively noisy with the Node 304 case open, but who runs it like that? Once you put on the case cover, the noise turns into a low whooshing sound that's actually pretty pleasant. Sounds like it would be good white noise for people who have trouble sleeping.

And that's a good comparison, if you are not familiar with enterprise-grade servers. It sounds very similar to a large diameter desk fan or stand fan, the type you would use on a hot summer's day if you don't own an AC unit. People use desk fans as a white noise sleeping aid, because while a desk fan is relatively loud, it's a pleasant sound. People who make comparisons to hair dryers or jet engines are excessively exaggerating. It's not too bothersome because it's a low frequency noise. High frequency whines, even if the dB level is a lot lower, are way more annoying.

If you have somewhere out of the way to place this like a server closet or a garage, this is a fantastic fan for your home lab. It'll probably be quieter than most of your other equipment. If you are expecting to put this in your gaming PC for when temps get really high during an intense gaming session, this is definitely the wrong fan for you. You will be very aggravated by the noise, but it's not intended for that environment.

So I am going on a several weeks now owning and using these fans.. and I bought 4 of these for my Fractal Design Meshify S2 (white) case. I was replacing the stock case fans which were Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP-14 140mm fans (2 in the front as intakes and 1 in the rear as exhaust). The stock case fans were rated at 1000 RPM pushing 68.4 CFM. So replacing them with these Noctuas plus adding 1 more to the front helped move ALOT more air.

My GPU temps dropped by at minimum 5 degrees Celsius. I was more concerned with my CPU temps tbh and was able to drop those down anywhere between 5 degrees to 10 degrees Celsius depending on the current CPU package temps and my ambient room temps. With a well defined fan curve set you can control the amount of noise these fans will generate. Personally, the noise issue doesn't bother me as much as it might others but part of that is bc I live in a noisy neighbourhood as I am near by a high way and busy main road where every vehicle driving by thinks they are in the movie fast and the furious. During the day time I hardly notice the noise as I use my 2.1 Logitech speakers and at night I will usually use my headset to game (Razer Nari Essential.. also have Steelseries Arctic 7) and they tend to block out any noise generated from the fans.

If you plan to get these fans I suggest a few things to be sure of.. check your motherboards (motherboard manual) specs and fan headers for power requirements.. my stock case fans would draw 0.20A.. 1.32W.. but with these Noctuas they draw 0.55A... 6.6W.. so ensure each fan header can handle the power requirements that you plug into..

Another thing is I suggest installing 1 fan at a time (setup each fan curve before adding next fan) if you purchase more than 1.. unless you don't mind having all the fans you buy rotating at 3000 RPM right at the start.. They can be fairly loud and will rotate at full power/full RPM unless you have a fan curve established already.

So again.. just to be clear.. my ambient temps are much higher than most others since my room is on the 4th floor and tends to get more humid so I usually see my CPU at low loads (browsing internet, streaming, anything non-gaming) usually between 46c to 56c.. and my fans will rotate between 1500 RPM to 1700 RPM and while gaming (I play Division 2 and some other titles) and under heavier loads.. I will see 55c to 63c.. and my fans will rev up to 2200RPM anytime my cpu goes above 60c and push it back down to 55c. So the noisiness will come in bursts during more intense gaming but as I use a headset I hardly notice it. I also have a Corsair H150i Pro 360mm AiO if that helps.

These are great fans, with good packaging, a cosy aesthetic, and quiet!

A lot of reviews you'll see will say, "Oh these are loud!", However this is under false pretences. They are as quiet if not more than the vast majority of other premium fans at matched RPMs. They are only "loud", or "louder" when you are exceeding what other staple premium fans are capable of spinning at.

These fans give you the option, the capability, of where other fans could not cool any more RPM wise, you can with the trade-off of it being louder. They are PWM so you can adjust the fans to your liking regardless.

This gives you the option of higher RPM's trading noise for preventing thermal throttling, there's next to no reason you wouldn't want these aside for other premium fans unless you do not like the aesthetic.

Great performance as expected. Since it is 3k rpm, the high pitch noise will start around 2000 to 2100 and above. Sharing this just in case buyers are considering this product vs noise.
I also purchase the 120mm ones and that one is a higher pitch than this when it hits 2000rpm.
It can be annoying when you are doing big file encoding for a lengthy period, ambient temperature plays a big role as always. Got these fans for my Threadripper and IceGiant CPU cooler.

These fans are incredible. I highly recommend these fans and especially the Noctua brand of fans.

I chose the 3000rpm because they have that extra bit of power if needed but they do a great job and just browsing or doing normal stuff that are great at 400rpm, a bit more intensive stuff they go up to 800rpm and for gaming they really shine at between 1400-1800rpm (most I’ve got up to in a game was 2100rpm Total War: Warhammer running at Ultra settings)

The NF-F14 PPC 3000rpm moves an incredible amount of air and has great static pressure, the highest on the market. I have two as intake fans on the front of my case and one at the rear as an extractor fan. This create a “positive pressure” inside the case and there’s more cooler air coming in, I have the rear fan running a little faster to extract the warm air inside and the dust won’t settle in and on the parts inside.

They are loud above 2000rpm but because of the air they move at around that speed don’t have to go beyond that and run at their the maximum speed except if you’re really pushing the components at a heavy load.

I’d recommend to anyone if even you’re concerned about the noise at most they are 40decibels and in comparison are half the noise of a Henry Hoover (~80dcb) you can set it via the BIOS or 3rd party software the speeds that they run at speed you need via fixed RPM or let the BIOS control the temperature to speed ratio thereby running the fans higher at a lower temperature you can prevent a sudden build up of heat which means they have to spin up at higher temperatures rapidly.

The only shame is you don’t get the accesories like the cheaper models have and its very sparse in the package but the price is well worth it seeing as how they’re going to massively extend the life of your components and keep your PC going for a long time.
