Turns out to be incredibly useful in my photography!

- Reviewed in Canada on June 10, 2025Verified PurchaseI love this. As I get older I shoot more from my car and this fits so well over the window to stabilize my very long lens.
- Reviewed in Canada on November 27, 2023I had no idea just how much using a sandbag would open up my photography. I have used them for weighing down tripods and light stands, but had never thought of using them to support my DSLR camera. The "NEEWER Sandbag for Photography" works great for this. I am getting new kinds of shots that I would not have normally attempted, adding a new level of creativity. It's easy to set up the sandbag into place and position my camera on top of it, so that it is stable. There are 2 adjustable side straps that help support the shape of the bag (the amount of bend in the middle). You can fill it with sand, uncooked rice, or other such material. It has carrying handles and also a detachable shoulder strap. The opening is held together with hook-&-loop material. This sandbag is pretty versatile, too, as it can be used equally well as a stabilizing weight for tripods.
For the purpose it serves, the quality is great. I'm looking forward to using this more often on hikes in the forest. The NEEWER Sandbag for Photography gets 5 stars from me!

- Reviewed in Canada on July 28, 2024This sandbag is a must-have for any photographer! The heavy-duty polyester material is durable and sturdy, and the foldable design makes it easy to store and transport. The shoulder strap is comfortable and convenient, and the bag can hold a substantial amount of weight to keep my gear stable. Highly recommend for added stability and support on photo shoots!

To keep the interior clean, I recommend lining the bag with a small kitchen garbage bag; I use beans because it's much easier to empty out the bag at the end of the day. With the shoulder strap, I did not find this bag to cumbersome to carry.
I did not see any issues with overall construction of this bag; it did not have any profound odour nor any weird factory scent from my initial inspection. I love that the shoulder straps hooks in with metal claps that link into metal 'd-shaped' loops.
5.0 out of 5 starsI like that this bag has resizable straps so that I can securely attach this bag to my light stand; Having the bag filled with beans, I appreciate that this gives me the ability to use my light stand outside with a secure footage against light wind/breezes. I believe filling the bag is straightforward; it took me a bit of time to figure out how to close the bag with the 'T-shaped' velcro area as it's not mentioned in the instruction manual.Secure Interior Construction; Easy To Install Onto Stands And Tripods

- Reviewed in Canada on May 8, 2023Even though I don't use these as a saddlebag for supporting my camera in awkward shoots, I do use these to stabilize tripods in the form of a weighted bag.
The quality of this sandbag is quite good, and it's lined and sealed in a way that prevents sand from escaping.
Sand is not included, but we use regular play sand available locally for under $9 / 20KG bag.
The bag has a shoulder strap and handle for versatility.
The only real downside is the fact that once filled, it's a heavy piece of kit.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 27, 2023I like the versatility of this sandbag that it's designed to be able to be used as a carrying or storage bag when not in use as a sandbag. The material is thick and rugged feeling and it's constructed very well; I don't foresee any issues with lasting.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 27, 2023A weight bag.
Considering that they are frequently a much needed and often unsung hero in a studio on set, yes, yippee!
This is a little different than the usual style sandbag, in that it is longer, which is a good thing and a bad thing. It is made of nylon, very solid looking construction and well finished. Rectangular, with a fold over top that has hook and loop closure, and inside of that a narrow-mouth (bad) zippered opening for where you put your choice of materials.
At the top end of the bag where the closures are, there are two metal hoops stitched on a short carry handle (adjustable) and there is a longer, adjustable and removable shoulder strap with snap closures to attach to the hoops.
The build quality is impressive. It looks at though it will take some abuse, which most sandbags are subjected to.
The back side is coated with what appears to be a rubbery type of impregnation, to protect against the ground, wetness, dirt, whatever you lay it upon.
It's weight capacity is 15lbs, adequate for most usage. I have a little over seven pounds of river stones placed in a solid ziploc bag, and that is then dropped into this. Which is why I am not fond of the narrow opening. It makes it unneccessarily akward to fill or empty the bag . . . which probably will result at some point in spillage, a mess . . . something you don't need. It doesn't need to open the full breadth of the bag, but as it is, I find it too small.
As to the shape. It is interesting as most weight bags are more blockish, squarish in overall shape. The length on this is a real positive if you want to use it like a beanbag underneath as a support for a camera and lens, a rifle . . . whatever, and it makes it pretty good as a beanbag draped over a telephoto to dampen vibration. Hanging from the bottom of a tripod makes for possibly a problem though. If you have a tripod set low to the ground, this possibly might drag on the ground negating it's usefullness.
One last thing, and I wish that many sandbag makers would do, . . . a lot of people regularly drape one or more sand bags on cross arms of a lightstand or on the legs of a c-stand. With the exception of one manufacturer and even then, they do it for only a few bags, is that bags have a handle going along the length as opposed to the more common orientation going across. It is a small thing, but with the normal "configuration" when you go to pull the bag up, physics insist that the weighted bottom will pull together, and in effect "clamp or grab" on the leg making it a bit more difficult to remove. When the strap goes in the other orientation, when you pull the bag up, the parts hanging down pull apart, making removal just a tad easier and quicker. Small touch . . . wish everyone would adopt it.
This is a great bag. The price is very good . . . and while my complaints are legitimate, they can be worked around.
I like it and I would reccommend it.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 27, 2023Another great Neewer accessory - for locking down my tripods or light stand I have some of the old style split bags. This is a far better bag all around, from the thicker material to the shoulder strap. This thing has a multi-level sealing system, but I still put my sand in ziploc bags just to be on the safe side.
What I like best about this bag is the many options I have to hang this off my gear using the straps already on the bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the job
Verified PurchaseUsed rice grains to fill and this gives a 600mm lens good support with a reassuring heft. Good size without being too bulky. The long strap is handy for looping round an upright/hide frame. The underside of the bag is waterproof with the top of a woven style nylon. The folded and velcro edge secured top keeps the fill from spilling out. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent photography sand bag
The media could not be loaded.
The first thing I noticed about this bag is that the closure is Velcro instead of a zipper like the ones I've used in the past. I was concerned at first, but tested it and it seals perfectly (see video). I use sunflower seeds inside instead of sand for this purpose because sand is very heavy to carry. However, if you're using this as a weighted bag to hold your tripod in place, sand is ideal.
The bag includes an adjustable buckle/strap on each side, a handle near the opening where you fill it, and an extra shoulder strap for carrying. It is made very well, Neewer products are always high quality and I've been using them for years.
I actually ended up liking the Velcro closure better than the one I have with a zipper. It is much easier to open & close. Overall, I am very pleased with this photography product and look forward to many years of use. A good value for the price.
