Today I am sharing my experience with the NEEWER LL38 - 79"/2m Video Camera Tripod with Fluid Head. Being an amateur photographer, I've primarily used very lightweight tripods that fold up small. This tripod is the complete opposite - it weighs 9.7 lbs, which is substantial but justified. The legs are a real treat as they adjust easily using flip-up locks and extend to a height of 200cm/78.7 inches. I really appreciate the sliding leg design rather than just tubes inside each other. These extremely sturdy legs allow a load capacity of 8kg/17.6 lbs, making it capable of handling even high-end professional equipment. My usual setup is a DSLR with a decent prime lens weighing about 1.5 kg, so the LL38 is more than capable. It's more about stability than anything else, and it's rock solid with large anti-slip feet.

The included Fluid Head is amazing as it's self-leveling. The tilt adjustment knob is robust and oversized to ensure proper operation and easy locking. The head has a quick release plate that includes both 1/4 and 3/8 inch screws and locks securely into place. I only have consumer 1/4 inch equipment, but it's nice to have the 3/8 inch option if needed. The panning bar is adjustable and can be switched from side to side for left or right-handed use. It's great to use as it's larger than most consumer-grade tripods with their tiny 6-inch handles. This handle truly allows for smooth control of the fluid head in 360-degree rotation. The head is incredibly smooth and easy to use. Anyone wanting steady shots, whether for video or photos, will find this tripod fantastic. There's a bubble level just under the head to get the tripod ground leveling spot on.

Overall, the tripod is a dream to use, though its weight may put some people off as it is heavy. It's definitely not a travel tripod! I think landscape or nature photographers will love this, as will studio photographers. Videographers for events and podcasts will appreciate the ease of setup, capacity to accommodate high-end professional video equipment, and portability.

Neewer makes great photography and video equipment at reasonable prices for consumers, and the LL38 is no exception. The build quality, exceptional fluid head, and easy setup make it easy to recommend. Oh! almost forgot it come with a nice carry bag!

I though it was a pretty heavy tripod. There is no control for the drag, but the default one is ok... Better than no drag at all, but not super strong. I like the base plate. I don't like the legs and how they lock to each other. The center spreader is not easily removable, the feet are just ball with rubber feet, no spike from what I've seen. It does have a bag, but I did have issue to put it back it, as it seem too small, so you need to close it in a particular way for it to close. There is some design flaw though. For example, the screw to lock the pan can only be closed down BETWEEN the legs. You can see in the product picture, the lock knob is actually embedded in the legs as it is a 3d render. But in reality, you cannot use it easily.

Feels cheap. Plastic. The fluid head has 0 resistance, so it produces jerky motion unless you’re really careful, and even then. The one pull release doesn’t work, because the legs won’t go down so you have to bend down to pull them out by hand anyways, it’s extremely big even packed, feels super unstable. Even with all this I would have kept it if it hadn’t started to drop bits and screws after the 1st time using it. It’s entirely garbage. Save your money, Pay a bit more and buy a good tripod from someone else.

Für mich steht beim Stativ vor allem Stabilität in dynamischen Umgebungen an erster Stelle - sei es bei Wind, auf unebenem Boden oder wenn Menschen drumherum herumlaufen. Das LL38 liefert hier auf ganzer Linie!

—> Aluminiumrohre und solide Verbindungselemente sorgen für eine spürbar robuste Konstruktion. 
—> Die Mittelstreben-Stabilisierung zwischen den Beinen erhöht die Seitenstabilität deutlich (wichtig z. B. bei Interviews mit langen Brennweiten.)
 —>Die rutschfesten Gummifüße mit Gelenk passen sich perfekt an unebenes Terrain an, selbst auf Kopfsteinpflaster oder Waldwegen.

Schnelles Setup mit System 
In meinem Workflow zählt jede Sekunde, gerade wenn ich zwischen verschiedenen Setups wechsle oder mit mehreren Kameras arbeite - was heisst das genau:

—> Die One-Knob-Beinverstellung ist ein Gamechanger. Ein Hebel pro Bein spart enorm viel Zeit und ich bin ehrlich:  Ich möchte nie wieder zu einem klassischen 3-Klemmen-Stativ zurück.
—> Mit einer max. Höhe von 2 Metern ist dieses Stativ perfekt, um über Menschenmengen hinweg zu filmen oder ungewöhnliche Perspektiven zu realisieren, z. B. Top-Down mit zusätzlichem Galgenarm.
—> Im zusammengeklappten Zustand bleibt es mit ca. 90 cm Länge und der mitgelieferten Tasche trotzdem noch tragbar, z. B. quer über der Schulter. 

🎬 Fluidkopf & Motion Control
Der eigentlich recht rudimentäre Fluidkopf ist für mich schon fast der eigentliche Star dieses Systems:

 —> Horizontale Schwenks laufen seidenweich, perfekt für saubere Kamerafahrten oder subtile Bewegungen bei Interviews.
—> Vertikal lässt sich der Kopf von -70° bis +90° neigen - perfekt für B-Rolls, z. B. Produkt-Shots von oben oder detailreiche Produktaufnahmen.
—> Die 70 mm Halbschale mit eingebauter Wasserwaage sorgt für schnelles Ausbalancieren (ich filme oft auf Events oder auf temporären Bühnen, da ist das Gold wert!)

 🔄 Flexibilität mit Zubehör & Platten
Als Creator ist mir wichtig, dass ich mein vorhandenes Setup erweitern kann:

—> Die große Quick Release Plate ist kompatibel mit fast allen meiner Kameras (Sony, Canon, Blackmagic), egal ob DSLR, spiegellos oder Camcorder.  
—> 1/4" und 3/8" Schrauben auf der Platte sowie ein seitlicher 3/8" Zubehöranschluss bieten Platz für Monitore, Mikrofonhalter oder Magic Arms. Gerade beim Solo-Drehen habe ich oft einen Monitor seitlich angebracht (perfekt für Selfshooting oder Interviews)

 Kurzer Vergleich zu Smallrig (besitze ich auch!) 
Wenn man das NEEWER LL38 mit dem SMALLRIG AD-01 vergleicht, fällt auf, dass sich beide in der gleichen Leistungsklasse für Videografen bewegen, aber mit unterschiedlichen Schwerpunkten:

Bauhöhe & Mobilität 
– Das Neewer LL38 erreicht mit 200 cm etwas mehr Höhe als das SmallRig AD-01 mit 188 cm – was z. B. für Überkopf-Aufnahmen oder Menschenmengen nützlich ist.
 – Dafür ist das SmallRig etwas kompakter und massiver gebaut (4 kg) und somit etwas robuster, aber weniger mobil.

Kopf & Bewegung 
- Beide nutzen hochwertige Fluidköpfe, wobei SmallRig mit +90°/-75° Neigung etwas mehr Spielraum bietet (Neewer: -70° bis +90°). 
– Der Dual-Modus-Schnellwechselmechanismus beim AD-01 ist besonders praktisch für DJI-Gimbal-Nutzer, da er direkt mit RS4/RS3-kompatiblen Platten funktioniert - das ist ein klarer Vorteil für hybride Setups.

Erweiterbarkeit & Handling 
– SmallRig bietet mehr 1/4”-Gewindeanschlüsse direkt am Stativkörper (z. B. für Magic Arms), während Neewer die Erweiterung eher auf dem Kopf oder der Platte vorsieht.
 – Beide kommen mit Tasche und einfacher Bedienung, aber das SmallRig punktet mit integrierter Werkzeugaufbewahrung direkt in der Platte – ein kleines, aber nützliches Detail.

Zusammengefasst was beide Stative angeht 
Das NEEWER LL38 bietet mehr Höhe, leichteres Handling und ist perfekt für den flexiblen Einsatz unterwegs. Das SMALLRIG AD-01 ist etwas kompakter, schwerer und punktet mit mehr Profi-Features für Studio-Setups oder Hybridnutzer mit DJI-Gimbals. 
Wer auf maximale Kompatibilität und Stabilität Wert legt, greift zu SmallRig. Wer Mobilität, Höhe und Preis-Leistung sucht, ist mit dem Neewer bestens bedient.

Fazit als Videograf
Das NEEWER LL38 ist kein reines Einsteigerstativ! Es ist tatsächlich ein ernstzunehmendes Werkzeug für ambitionierte und semi-professionelle Videografen, die Wert auf saubere Kamerabewegungen, schnelle Einrichtung und maximale Flexibilität legen.  Wie bereits weiter oben erwähnt, dih nutze es bei Imagefilmen, Interviews, Eventdokumentationen und B-Roll-Szenen, bei denen ich auf Stative mit absoluter Laufruhe angewiesen bin. Dass ich dafür kein High-End-System wie Manfrotto oder Sachtler mit vierstelligem Preisschild brauche, sondern mit Neewer eine solide Alternative habe, freut mich ehrlich gesagt sehr.

Das Stativ ist für mich persönlich ein No-Brainer! Klare 5 von 5 Sternen! Durchdacht, stabil und absolut videopraxis-tauglich.

Als Vollzeit & Fotograf Videograf mit Schwerpunkt auf dokumentarischen Arbeiten, Interviews und Eventbegleitung bin ich ständig auf der Suche nach Equipment, das halbwegs professionelle Ergebnisse mir liefern kann, aber nicht gleich das Budget sprengt. Das NEEWER Video-Stativ mit Fluidkopf ist genau so ein Glücksgriff! Es verbindet Stabilität, Höhe, Mobilität und saubere Schwenks zu einem Paket, das für diesen Preis schwer zu schlagen ist!

Videopraxis: Stabilität & Handling
