Excellent Value With One Area For Improvement

- Reviewed in Canada on June 18, 2025The NBCP Wolf-V3 is a perfectly acceptable shifter option if forking out the big dough for a major name-brand shifter doesn't appeal to you.
That said, as with most budget options, there will be some tradeoffs. First, this shifter is pretty plain looking. It's all just black plastic. However, it does feel solidly built and the plastic does have an appealing texture to it. The mounting system also works well and in my use has remained firmly affixed to my gaming desk without any undesirable movement.
I did have some problems getting it set up, though. The instruction manual only covers how to mount it to your desk and plug it into the wheel unit. In my case, the shifter never showed up in Windows, in Logitech G-Hub, or in any of my games once that was done. I ended up having to delete G-Hub, delete my Logitech G-29 drivers, delete some Windows Registry entries, restart my computer and reinstall G-Hub before it would work. To be fair, that may well be an issue with Logitech rather than the manufacturer of this gear lever, as I have always found Logitech stuff to be a bit finicky and failure prone.
The one area that could definitely use a little improvement is in the gear engagement feel. The shifter feels a bit like rowing a spoon through oatmeal. Yes, there's some feel there, but the return springs and engagement points could definitely use some beefing up. I use this mainly for truck simulators, which require slow shifting, and on several occasions have still found myself lost among the gears and uncertain if the right gear has been selected....and this despite the fact that my personal vehicle has a manual transmission! If you're into competitive racing games, a shifter with better feel and feedback would likely be helpful. It's not that the feel on this shifter is awful, it's just that it could be better.
Currently priced at just under $40 Cdn, this shifter is less than half the cost of the top-selling big-name brand. As such it represents great value for a casual gamer on a budget.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 20, 2025I've owned a g29 for a few years now, and that includes the original shifter, it's sad to say, but it's done it's time.
This on the other hand, feels tighter, and clickier than my original ever felt.
Every shift clicks into place and it feels just as good if not better than Logitech's own offering.
At this price, i sincerely doubt you can find something better than this.
Easiest 5 stars i've ever given, it's that GOOD.
The only con i can give you is the lack of mounting solution, their clamp they give with the shifter dosen't stay IN the shifter, so when not in use it'll flop everywhere.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 9, 2025I bought the Logitech G923 set that didn't come with a shifter to save a bit of money and because I didn't think I'd want to use a stick shift anyway, but shifting gears manually really does add another layer of immersion...it's more fun than I expected it to be too...and this gear shifter works seamlessly with my Logitech set.
Connecting this shifter is as simple as just plugging it into the wheel, but I guess it's really meant to attach to a table or desk, not a racing cockpit. My rig has a spot for a shifter, but the metal plate the shifter connects to is too thin for this shifter, and I'd guess that's the case with most sim racing cockpits, as they all use similar metal plates. I had to use a wood shim to make it fit. I'd much rather be able to properly bolt it in place, rather than it being clamped on with a big plastic screw like this shifter has, but so far I haven't had any problems with it coming loose. This shifter is less than half the price of the ones I've seen that bolt into place though, so there's that to consider as well.
All in all, I'd say it's pretty good. Not perfect, but excellent value for the price. If you're a professional sim-racer, then this might not be the best choice, but for the rest of us mere mortals, this is a good quality shifter at a very reasonable price. Sim racing is an expensive hobby to get into...and it seems to keep getting more and more expensive as time goes on, so if you can save a bit of money on equipment like this without losing quality or functionality, then that's a huge plus...and this shifter definitely delivers on that front.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 20, 2025Reviewer note: Despite this listing stating that this gear shifter is only for the Logitech G29, been using it successfully with the G923 Xbox/PC version of the wheel.
I haven't tried it on PC yet, but working fine on my Xbox Series X.
That is with a caveat, however.
Not all games support wheels, let alone wheels with a shifter like this one.
I was able to get some games to work completely native, while others would refuse to see this shifter. And others still allowed me to use the shifter, but after I set up the key bindings.
So compatibility will be up in the air. However, most of the higher-end race sims seem to be the ones that support this type of accessory.
As far as usage goes, it was basically plug-and-play.
There's a slot underneath my wheel that allows the connection to the shifter. No separate power to the shifter is needed, since it's just a single cable.
I appreciate the fact that the table mount is quite solid, and I had no issues getting it to work and being stable while in use.
The shifter feels is pretty good. I much prefer this over paddle shifting. But one thing I noticed is that the shifter grip seems to indicate that there are four positions on the lower half and three on the top. In reality, there's only three at the top and three at the bottom. So six shifting slots in total, but it does have a push-down reverse option.
Build quality seems decent, and the current listed price is $39.99, quite a bit lower than the official shifter from Logitech.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sold, heavy but not made to mount on a steering wheel stand out of the box
This is the only gear shifter I have used so I have nothing to compare it with. Keeping this in mind I have no complaints about how it works. It's build solid (I dropped it on my foot pulling it out of the bag that 鶹 so carefully packed it in - yes that is sarcasm). This shifter is not made to mount on your standard steering wheel stands though. I had to cut a piece of wood to put under it so I could mount it on my stand. It works, but it would be nice if it just fit into the slots like it's supposed to. Given the choice, I'd probably opt for the official Logitech gear shift. Still, this one does seem well made.

5.0 out of 5 stars Es una excelente alternativa al original, bastante compatible, y de excelente calidad. Recomendado!
The media could not be loaded.
Ampliamente recomendado!

4.0 out of 5 stars Single clamp isn't stable. Shifting is okay.
I don't have the Logitech shifter to do a direct comparison to, but from what I can tell, the clamp is the main thing that is different. The build quality seems good and doesn't feel cheap. Attachment and clamping isn’t the greatest. It's just a single clamp and only have one point of contact without any flat surface to hold it steady. It may work in some tables, but happened to not be suitable to hold firmly to mine. Not necessarily the shifter’s fault, but annoying nonetheless. I was able to figure something out to get it to work, but nothing firm enough to keep it firmly stable while playing.
Shift “gates” aren’t very crisp. For example, first and second gear are easy to get into and when you do, you’re confident each time that you’re in the “expected” gear. But third through sixth gear is a bit of a question mark. I was never quite confident while rowing through the gears whether I was in third vs fifth gear, or fourth vs sixth gear. Also, reverse is shown on the graphic of the shift knob to be further to the right of fifth and sixth gears. However, it’s actually in the SAME SPOT as sixth gear, but you just have to press the gear knob down (towards the floor) before pulling into the sixth gear spot. Now you’re in reverse. Not quite the expected motion, but I guess you can get used to it eventually.
It's not bad, and seems to be almost the same as the Logitech one, but considering the price gap isn't that big, I would probably go with the Logitech one just for the better clamping alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected
This gear shifter from NBCP worked well with my Logitech G29 wheel. I had no problems with compatibility and it performs just as I would expect. No complaints!
