Takoyaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special molded pan. It is typically filled with minced or diced octopus (tako), tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger, and green onion.Takoyaki are brushed with takoyaki sauce (similar to Worcestershire sauce) and mayonnaise, and then sprinkled with green laver (aonori) and shavings of dried bonito. There are many variations to the takoyaki recipe, for example, ponzu (soy sauce with dashi and citrus vinegar), goma-dare (sesame-and-vinegar sauce) or vinegared dashi.
Cast Aluminum Takoyaki Pan
This stovetop takoyaki pan is a heavy frying pan made of aluminum which you use to make the Japanese speciality ‘takoyaki’. This pan evenly heats the 12 Takoyaki moulds so you can make plenty in one go! Nonstick and easy cleanup, anyone can make them turn without fail. Finish is good in the heat storage effect of the thick material. Suitable for gas stoves,not suitable for use on electric stoves.
This cast aluminum takoyaki pan makes batches of 12 takoyaki balls at once, and works on induction stoves. Brush a little oil into each of the 12 wells of the takoyaki pan, and heat it up before filling the well with a hemisphere of batter. Keep rotating the cooking batter, adding more and more of the mixture until it forms a perfect round in the takoyaki pan.
