The mythology created in this book was so interesting and well done. I enjoyed the many layers to the magic in the story and the intersection of legend and science. Definitely worth it!

A wonderfully believable and immersive world. Excellent, deep characters and character development. Lots of action, well described.

So why the dropped star? As a cellular biologist, the science made me want to hit something. I was willing to roll with the triple helix DNA - magic, amirite? - even though it would absolutely not work at the molecular level - something like plastids would have worked much better and given a lot more interesting options drama wise. Similarly if you have smartphones then you should have nanopore readers, which would make one person/a few million basepairs/5 months a workable problem. Again, though, moving at the speed of plot, I could roll with it. What pissed me off the most, though, was the propagation of the myth of bleach pregnancy testing - that made my teeth clench, since it’s pretty irresponsible.

Lots of other little things, too, that niggled and messed with my mental timeline (e.g. leaded gas has has not been sold in Canada since 1990, which does not pair well with any other timeline clues in this series.). I guess my beef is this: if you’re going for the POV of a Canadian biologist, it might be a good idea to have a Canadian biologist as a beta reader, or even as an initial consultant. There are a large number of us, even if you filter for urban fantasy enthusiasts.

TL:DR - Great read, but there are irritations.

To be fair the writing is excellent, the 3GD universe is really well imagined and the characters are fantastic...sense of humour and sarcasm plus...shhh they don't always triumph; sometimes it all goes "a bit kaka"...and you will have to read the books to understand that reference isn't linked to Quantum Leap. A great read worth a damn site more than the kindle box set price of 99p...go on take a chance and suspend your disbelief

If you're a fan of the GoneGod World this series is a must read. I can't say enough good things about this series. It's always dicey when an established author invites someone else to write in their world, but Ramy Vance has made a fabulous choice in S W Clarke. I instantly fell in love with her characters, and her writing style. I can't wait to see what she does next with her corner of the GoneGod World.

Main character Isabella, is very different from Kat Darling and brings a welcome does of vulnerability to the GoneGod World. Clarke infuses her characters with both heart and humor. Everyone's favorite hunky boyfriend, Justin Truly is back along with several other GoneGod World favorites like, Cupid and Hercules.

This series was so much fun, I just couldn't put it down.
