Review
Morphenomenal is a meticulously researched love-letter to 30 years of the Power Rangers superhero franchise. Joshua Moore has crafted a readable and compelling story that will delight anyone interested in popular culture, whether Power Rangers fans or otherwise. Morphenomenal guides us through the brand’s triumphs, hiccoughs and setbacks, from the perspective of a lifelong Power Rangers enthusiast. I couldn’t put it down. ― Simon Bennett, executive producer Power Rangers Dino Fury, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and Mighty Morp
Morphenomenal is a stellar look at the creation (well, re-creation) of a franchise that would become a household name. It's a wonderful deep dive into a watershed moment of pop culture and the surprising legacy it’s had — few expected Power Rangers to be more than a campy addition to early ’90s children’s television. Thirty years later, those naysayers have been proven wrong and Moore’s book is the perfect gift for everyone that's stood on the side of those Mighty Morphin teens. ― Daniel Dockery, author of Monster Kids: How Pokémon Taught a Generation to Catch Them All
All heroes have an origin story, but the most compelling ones are the tales of the underdogs who brought them to life. With meticulous research and vivid storytelling, Moore transforms the behind-the-scenes history of the Power Rangers into a thrilling saga as dynamic as a classic Mighty Morphin episode. This book is essential reading for anyone fascinated by the real origins of this iconic pop culture franchise. ― Scott Niswander, NerdSync
Moore has put his energy, knowledge, and insight of Power Rangers history into Morphenomenal, and the result is a fun and invoking read for any fan of the franchise, young or old. ― Shawn Pryor, author of Kaiju Unleashed: An Illustrated Guide to the World of Strange Beasts
Morphenomenal by Joshua Moore is a wonderfully satisfying catalog of the creation and duration of the Power Rangers as a pop culture franchise. It’s a comprehensively researched and entertaining record of modern media history and the way it can capture everything from television to toys to comics to movies and videogames. In an era where information is becoming harder and harder to find and verify, Moore has presented the ultimate document for Power Rangers fans and media historians (like me) to add to our libraries to make sure that this story is preserved and accessible for future generations. ― Dan Larson, Secret Galaxy

5.0 out of 5 stars A excellent read even for people who aren't into Power Rangers: I was hooked from start to finish!
Verified PurchaseAs a Power Ranger super fan who religiously devours all behind-the-scenes information about the show, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this book is bursting with new details. The author has interviewed well over a hundred people who worked on the franchise, so every chapter has an abundance of exciting, previously unknown revelations about the show.
It is a welcome change from other behind-the-scenes books, which often feel like printed wiki summaries.
I am especially pleased that people who were largely unknown to the fandom but instrumental to the franchise’s success at last get their chance in the spotlight. This includes figures like footage editor Adi Eli-Ad, producer Ronnie Hadar, writer Steve McClearly, and many others.
Other creators more familiar to the fandom also have their say and are able to set the record straight on several long-standing misconceptions.
Hearing all their stories gives me a new appreciation for the franchise, which has pushed boundaries and overcome many challenges in ways that fans are often not aware of. It's a miracle that Power Rangers managed to last for one season, let alone 30!
However, you do not need to be a hardcore fan to enjoy this book, as the author does an excellent job of telling Power Rangers’ 30-year story from start to finish in a highly engaging manner.
In fact, it is so well written that I think it would be a great read for anyone who doesn’t even care about Power Rangers, as it provides a candid look at the challenges involved in coming up with an idea, bringing it to life and then growing it into a mega hit that lasts for generations.
The author clearly has a serious talent for researching large amounts of information and then finding the human interest angle to craft an emotionally compelling book, so I definitely look forward to his future work and hope this book gets a sequel.
Overall, an excellent read, which I thoroughly enjoyed!

5.0 out of 5 stars After 10 thousand years I’m free.
Verified PurchaseAhhhh.. after 10 thousand years I’m free. It’s time to conquer 鶹 reviews…
I’m a 90’s kid and a lifelong Power Rangers fan. So I realize I’m the key demographic for this book. That said, if you’ve made it all the way to the review section of this page… so are you.
This book doesn’t just capture what it was like to watch Power Rangers, the author goes out of his way to make sure you understand what it was like to BE a Power Ranger, with interviews from the original cast, all the way up until its 30 year old conclusion. I loved reading about what the actors thought about each and every direction the show went in.
If you’re a Power Rangers fan, I can’t recommend this book enough. If you’re not a Power Rangers fan, I’m genuinely confused about why you’re still reading this.
I lucked out that the release of this book coincided with the birth of our first child. She’s a fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, Informative, Challenging!
Verified PurchaseIn modern times, it’s refreshing to finally delve into something that actually adds to the Power Rangers franchise, as opposed to taking from it. This book is a monumental labour of love from Joshua Moore, a longtime fan of the franchise and encapsulates all of the nitty gritty of what makes Power Rangers work. This book seemed like a challenging project and even though some of what was written may challenge me, that is OK, as I found the book to be very highly entertaining and informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Power lies on the author's side ⚡️
Verified PurchaseGreat book so far. The artwork and color pages are awesome. Book seems to cover everything and it is all really interesting stuff. The "I have a Megazord on my desk" resulting in 2 marriages bit made me laugh lol, so great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t Miss Out on This Summer Hit!
Verified PurchaseAlthough I already knew going into this that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a cultural phenomenon, I still felt myself cheering for its success as I continued turning each page. It's hard to believe now, having seen MMPR's success, that so many studio executives would have little faith in it and saw it as violent and too foreign. Still today, it's one of my fondest childhood memories, and through Moore's expertise, I was reminded why.
