Product description

The Morakniv Craftline Robust Trade Knife features an extra-thick, 3.6 x 0.125-inch carbon steel fixed blade. High carbon steel achieves high hardness, sharpens easily and is exceptionally tough. High carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and frequent regrinding. The material is harder than stainless steel, allowing it to hold a sharper and more durable acute edge. The Morakniv Robust has an impact-resistant, ergonomic TPE rubber handle with coil-formed rounding that provides extra grip and control. A finger guard provides additional safety. Included with the knife is a hard plastic Combi-Sheath, which provides a quick-connect feature for attaching a second knife and sheath. Morakniv has been manufacturing the highest quality knives in Mora, Sweden since 1891. Limited lifetime manufacturer’s warranty.

Bought mine for having on my tool belt for construction work. As a all around strong utility knife. Great lil Morakniv. Very strong blade. Holds a edge extremely good. Highly ridged and almost no flex at all. Unfinished Top of the blade is great for using a mallet on. Thick and wide. Handle is solid. Not the most comfortable handle in the world to grab a hold of for long periods of using but it gets the job done. I am happy with it . It is hard to find a strong knife for construction and carpentry. One that is not to expensive and can hold up to the beating it will take. This seems to have held up so far past my expectations.

Simply put, it's difficult to go wrong with a mora knife. I have many mora knives and they all still impress after years and years of use. This Morakniv Robust pro (not craftline model)has a blade of 22.23mm tall from cutting edge to the spine, thickness is 3.18mm and the blade length (cutting edge) is 86.84mm. The Robust pro bevel angle is 27 degrees which is more biting than the older 23 degree bevel of the longer and more narrow mora knives that have more flexible blades made of different steel. This Mora Robust Pro takes easy to a razor sharp edge and keeps it for a long time, and only requiring regular stropping to keep that hair shaving edge. This is a carbon steel blade knife so it does rust & or corrode, but keeping it clean and dry isn't particularly difficult. This Robust pro is more chisel like so it digs in more than the older mora's so it's not as good for debarking a tree to make a tent stake because it digs into the wood too much. However all other tasks are very quick with this knife such as making a point on a 1" thick piece of hardwood took under 10 seconds. The stainless version of this knife is the "Morakniv Pro S" and is made with 12c27 stainless steel which is better than the common stainless steels such as 440c.
The Robust pro in it's sheath is very light and you don't event notice that's it's there most of the time.
The only con i can think of is that the handle is too small for people with larger hands.

The only reason I bought this knife is after watching a youtube video that tried to destroy this Mora Robust knife...and couldn't. They were cutting bricks, batoning and just beating the living hell out of this thing! That impressed me so much I had to buy one. It is a shorter blade than my other green handled, stainless Mora and is made from carbon steel with an unfinished back. Makes for a great knife to carry around your neck.

Since it's made from carbon steel it WILL rust! Some people force a patina using hot vinegar, to cover the blade with a blue gray coating. Other people just use the knife and it develops a natural patina all on it's own over time. I like the shiny finish so I just oil it with mineral oil and put a piece of oil soaked cloth inside the holder to wipe it off before storing it. I'll see how long the shiny finish lasts.

There IS a difference in sharpness between the carbon blade and the stainless steel blade. This carbon steel Robust is SCARY RAZOR SHARP out of the box! I was shaving hair off my arms with this knife! You can actually shave your face with this thing, it's that sharp!

My stainless steel Mora was sharp, but not "shaving sharp" I couldn't shave any hair off my arms with it. The Swedes know how to make tools! I bought a Gransfors Bruks small forest axe a couple of months ago, it was also razor sharp and was shaving hair off my arms no problem. The hairs were literally popping off my arms just like with this Mora Robust! I won't be abusing this knife like the guys in the video but I have peace of mind that it will hold up to everything I can throw at it and still come back for more!

Here's the title to the video. "The Indestructible Knife Mora Robust" by Dutch Bushcraft Knives

Great knife. Always is with Mora. The people complaining of unfinished spines... it's in the description. Spines are unfinished on purpose. Easy fix if you want to strike ferro rods. People complaining of rust after cutting fruit... it's a carbon steel blade. You need to keep it clean and oiled or it will rust. I used mustard and apple cider vinegar to force a patina on mine and it looks great. That will help with rust as well. You'd be hard pressed to spend a better $26 on a knife.

Again a great knife from Mora. Like what other reviews have reported elsewhere, this is a great quality economical knife. Thicker and more robust than the Craftline C, it performs more rougher tasks better than the C but slices and detailed work as well as the C. Mods that are needed are: spine needs to be filed down to give a nice 90 deg edge to use a fero rod, and for my personal tastes I have had to remove the finger guard. The finger guard was too much and tended to get in the way of fine detailed work; I could not get to use the blade closer to the handle; and choking up was awkward. Removing the guard did not compromise the utility of the sheath.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 10, 2017

I bought this knife to use as a secondary, smaller knife when I am camping or kicking around the woods. For that purpose, it is extremely handy. The blade is carbon steel and ground to a zero edge scandi. This makes it bite very good into wood as well as almost everything else I have tried it on. Straight from the factory, this knife will shave hair and slice paper without any problem. The blade is under 4" and just seems to be about right for this knife. There is plenty of belly to this blade which is different than some of the Mora blades. It will whittle very good one minute and field dress game the next.

The Mora Pro Robust uses the robust blade thickness of 1/8". For a Mora that is very stout. They have moved the scandi bevel up a bit however so they are able to have a sharp 27-degree edge even with the thicker blade. The normal thickness Mora blades are about 23 or 24 degrees. When I have tested these knives side by side I will admit that the normal 2.2 mm thickness knives do tend to slide a bit easier into wood. Of course, the slightly larger angle will hold up just a bit better to hard use. However, the difference is minimal. This thickness feels very stout and gives you more confidence to use it roughly. I have even pried some bark off of a tree to shave tinder without any ill effects. (Prying is not recommended, though, for ANY knife).

The blade spine is not finished sharp. If you want to have the sharp 90-degree spine that everyone uses for bushcraft you will need to grind it gently. It won't take much to get where it throws sparks from a Ferro rod or scrapes bark from your marshmallow stick.

The handle is extremely comfortable and secure. Someone with very large hands might find it a little too short however. My Medium-large hands fit right in between the guards both in a normal hold and in a reverse grip for chest lever cutting. The rubber over mold is slightly tacky and makes controlling the knife very easy.

The sheath is the basic plastic one you get from Mora. The knife snaps in a little but will come out if inverted and shaken. A little bit of OD green shock cord provides good retention for me. The sheath clips onto a belt easily. It also has a drain hole in case things get really wet for you.

With minimal care, carbon steel would be fine for camp use and is easier to sharpen. It looks like a good compromise with added strength while keeping with the inexpensive and utilitarian aspects of the Mora knives. This would be excellent for food prep, cleaning fish, general repairs and camp stuff, as well as whittling and bushcraft projects.

I would say that for the price of this knife you absolutely cannot go wrong.

    RٱԳ.-

    DzԳܲó.-

    DzԳܲó.-
