This is a fantastic learning tool for early numeracy education. The hand models with bendable sticky (velcro) fingers is perfect for showing children how they have the tools to do basic addition and subtraction up to 10 on their very own hands. Our little one is still mastering finger dexterity and can point with the pointer finger well, but creating the peace sign (or number 2) is still something new that she is practicing, as is holding up 3 fingers - so this set of hands is a great way to introduce the concept and model how it could look on her own fingers as she practices.
There is a grooved side on the back of the felt hand models that features the number and arrows for the direction in which the Western-Arabic numbers should be written and the is a little wooden 'pencil' that your child can use to trace the indentations for fine motor practice - love that this is a clean 'mess free' option to literally practicing the motions, without wasting paper or requiring ink/pencils.
Lastly, there is a board that has coloured rods and wooden chips with numbers on them that the child can match and serves as a physical/tactile way for children to hold the number of rods in their hands to work through counting and math questions. It is a fantastic set that really will grow with your child through early numeracy and love that it brings together so many spatial concepts as well to help children really learn by matching them with the 'language' (fingers/rods/written cards/wooden boards of the numbers) they feel most comfortable with.
Love the way this set is designed and how thoughtful it is for children. It also fits in with out home aesthetic of more 'natural' products and the wood offers a nice wooden look and weight that feels more substantial than a lightly-weighted plastic toy.
