How To Use ？

First：Remove the red cap from the end of the probe and open the tester.

Second：Insert the probe into the soil 3-5 inches.

Then：Read the data for about 10 s. The data will be displayed on the monitor.

Finally：Remove the probe from the soil after each use and wipe it clean.

1.Do not force the soil tester into very hard soil.

2.Do not put the soil tester into the soil for a long time.

3.Do not use the Soil Tester to test water or other liquids, the Soil Tester is only for testing soil.

Display: Large, backlit, easy to read Buttons: Labelled as pH on one side and C/F on the other Batteries: I had to fight with the cover for a minute to get it off, I don't know what it was caught on but it didn't slide off easily. It was easy to put back in place though Light sense: It seems to either be LOW or HIGH, not much for normal measurement. HIGH took a decent amount of light, I'm not sure about the accuracy of this feature, because the sensor is on the front it is also important to get a reading so that the sensor faces your light source (window) which in some cases means I need to measure light, then turn around and place in the plant to measure pH as my plant is in the window pH: My plants all seemed to measure relatively neutral, but I have no way to verify the accuracy of the measurements. They are supposed to be in neutral soil though, so thats great! Included with the instructions is also a short list of (mostly outdoor) plants and their recommended pH. I web searched mine as they weren't on the list. Temperature: Seems to be mostly correct based on the house temperature. It was a little higher than house temperature by a few degrees so may be a little off. Moisture level: The instructions say to water the plant before measurement, so if you're following instructions it will always say wet, but yes, it will say dry if you don't. I'm not sure if inserting it into dry soil will eventually wear away at the probe with dry dirt scratching or causing resistance. I don't think I will be relying on this in the way I thought I would to help my plants and garden. A calibration or quality control material to make sure your instrument is performing as it should would have been nice, and light sense that was a little more distributed rather than stricktly low or high. Price point seems on average with other products that offer similar features, and it is nice that you don't have to purchase lots of pH strips

    This is an OK soil meter/tester that seems well-constructed and that works so far without issues; however, I am not certain about its accuracy level based on the minimal readout information

    The screen is exceptional. It has fairly large 2" backlit screen that is bright and easy to see in sunlight. The screen is not adjustable but is tilted at 15 degrees. It works but for some readouts I had to tilt the whole meter.

    The physical build quality is good but the battery cover latch stick. It is plastic and rather small duct that over time I can see it failing. It has a plastic shell that for the most part is hard enough that it should take some drops,

    It only has 2 buttons; one for switching between normal and pH/moisture modes and the other one is for selecting the temp unit (°C/°F) but they are not labelled at all. While the temperature, moisture level, and pH level seems to be reasonably accurate, I am not sure about the light amount.

    I am also not sure about the moisture measurements display. Measurements are done in ranges with some wording such as wet or wet+ for moisture. I would have preferred a percentage level so that you could get a good gauge of how close it is to needing water etc.

    All things considered, this is a reasonably decent soil meter/tester that is well-constructed and that works. It has a good backlit screen that's good to see. It's reasonably priced for its overall build quality, usability, versatility, and performance.

    Reading seems accurate, but other than the temperature and the pH level, the meter doesn't provide very detailed information. For example, the sunlight is expressed as a Low, Normal, Normal+, High, or High+ value. The soil moisture is expressed as dry+, dry, wet, or wet+. There might be other values in between, but the above are the ones I've seen.

    The meter requires 3 AAA batteries, which are not included. There are only two buttons: one to switch between the two screens and the other to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. The first screen shows sunlight, temperature, and soil moisture level, and the other screen shows sunlight and pH level.

    The screen has a backlight that can't be disabled. The screen is kind of hard to see when not looking straight at it. Since I'll be using this meter during the day, I would have preferred a regular LCD without a backlight. I think those would have been easier to see.

    Lastly, the instruction manual also says not to leave the sensor in the soil for too long. You can't just pluck it down next to your favourite plant and leave it there.

    Overall, it's an okay meter. It's easy to use but there's nothing really fancy about it.

    I was thinking this would be a smaller item that could be left in a plant as a reminder to water all of them but this is a very large probe. In order to measure moisture levels, the instructions want you to first water the plant. It shows high pH for all of my plants (I'm not sure if that is accurate). The battery cover is easy to put on but quite hard to get off (it usually goes flying when it does come off). I think this is better suited to much larger plants where the size of the probe might make more sense and you need help figuring out if the plant is suitably watered.
