    I have an old Moen Roman Tub faucet and needed to replace the cartridge which is impossible to access and remove without this tool. After using this tool I was easily able to remove the plastic retainer ring that holds the cartridge in place. In terms of value for money, its just a piece of rolled metal with 2 tabs cut out that fit in the plastic notches. Is it worth the money? I would argue no but if you have a Moen faucet you don't really have a choice.

    Learning experiences and tips that may help you:
    - Search for your faucet's "illustrated parts diagram" and understand how your faucet is assembled. Should be available on the Moen website.
    - If you have a stem extension kit, it will be screwed into the top of the cartridge. If your cartridge has seized in place and cannot be removed with pliers like mine, remove the stem extension kit and get a long 3-4 inch screw, and screw it into the old seized cartridge. Use the pliers to grip the screw head and put out with force.

    This tool is needed to replace the cartridge (or stem) of some but not all Moen 2-handle faucets. According to the Moen website, it is needed for the 8" spread faucets to remove a cartridge retainer nut. I tried several other tools to remove the nut, but none worked. Ordered the #14272 tool on 鶹 for $5 and free shipping. It is a 1/16" thick x 4" length of steel rolled into 7/8" OS diameter tube with two tabs on one end that fit into notches of the retainer nut. It is well made, does not flex, and has no sharp burs. It worked just as it should and removed the retainer nut and tightened the nut after the cartridge was replaced.

    Several reviewers rated the tool poorly because the plastic retainer nut broke; this was poor design of the retainer nut, not the tool. The tool is much more robust than the retainer nut. I give the tool 5 stars not because it is fancy or something I can't live without, but because it functions as it should and is reasonably priced.
