I just installed these tonight. Purchased two sets to illuminate a pool area. A few comments:

-The bulbs are incandescent and look great
-Broadly speaking, product as advertised
-They provide a good amount of light
-It is 60F out today, but I can hold a bulb in my hand and they do not feel hot. I do not believe that there is a substantial risk of these bulbs setting anything on fire.
-The cord comes without bulbs installed. I think this was a good decision on the manufacturers part, but does mean you'll have to spend several minutes installing them yourself. All of the bulbs were intact and worked (I had to twist one a bit to make it illuminate, but it was fine).
-As mentioned in a previous review, the glass in the bulbs feels delicate. I installed the cabling first, and then screwed in the bulbs
-The bulbs run off of mains power, not DC. Be careful stringing them above pools, as there is a shock hazard
-The included packaging says that the bulbs are for "seasonal use" and not "permanent installation". I don't know how well they'll handle in the rain (looks like it might not be great), but the 2-prong outlet has an easy-to-access fuse slot, so if getting wet = electrical short, it's not the end of the world.

Attached image: lights after installing, with lights on and off. To my eye, the lights all look the same (and visually, most like those shown to the right on the photo) -- its odd that they are different in the photo.

I was hoping for slightly better quality than a strand of Edison bulb globe lights I had purchased at target, but these identical to the Room Essentials branded lights. That said, for less than fifty bucks for 100 feet, it wasn't a huge gamble. I highly recommend buying extra bulbs at the same time you buy the strand of lights. None arrived shattered for me, but clearly it is a problem for many, and I can see why. These bulbs are ultra fragile. Personally I cannot recommend them for uncovered outdoor use, as I would go with the commercial grade ones instead. I didn't install these, but the person who did broke a ton of bulbs. I think it's best to go bit by bit, put 10 bulbs on, hang those 10 up, put the next 10 on...and so on. Don't put them all on at once as they are ultra fragile. It's also worth noting that you can leave many bulbs out without the strand going out...so good for me but not good for exposed outdoor use or anywhere a child could touch them.

For my purposes (last minute lights on a budget) these worked fine. If you only need lights for an indoor or covered space, you can save some $ with these.

I purchased the 100 on a string set about a year ago and they have held up really well.
A few things to note: The bulbs are not attached to the string so you will have to take a little extra time to screw in each bulb by hand.
Also - on the 100 bulb set, there is only one end plug that plugs into a power source, the other end of the set cannot be plugged into another string of lights.
The bulbs have been out year round through rain and shine and are still going strong. I have had no issues with any bulbs burning out BUT my only complaint is that I wish the set came with a few spare bulbs just in case and this set does not do that.
Overall i still do recommend this product. It has made such a difference in our back yard.

Very disappointed the 100 ft are NOT connectable. I somehow missed that in the product description... One fitting in the first stand doesn't work unless you squeeze it. It's going to take some tinkering. I read that if you don't fill every socket, it will cause bulbs to burn out.
Does require assembly. Takes 10-15 minutes to carefully screw in each bulb. None of ours arrived broken. We did break a few getting them hung. We were being extra careful or it would've been a lot more.
They DO get hot. Immediately. They were sitting in my lap when we did the test plug in. It was uncomfortably warm but not hot enough to burn. Not sure if they get hotter as time passes? Not sure if I would feel comfortable hanging next to a plastic tablecloth. We strung in trees
