About the Author; Roger Price and Leonard Stern created Mad Libs in the 1950s and the series has been a favorite among kids of all ages ever since. Although Roger Price passed away in 1990, Leonard Stern keeps the tradition alive by writing new Mad Libs all the time. Roger Price and Leonard Stern are both well known for their comedy writing. In the 1950s Roger Price created and developed cartoons called Doodles, which were turned into a television show. Before that Price worked with Bob Hope on a newspaper humor column, and he even appeared on Broadway in Tickets, Please! Leonard Stern has an equally colorful and varied history. Before co-founding Price Stern Sloan with Roger Price (Sloan came later), Stern was a successful television writer. In addition to his creative involvement with over twenty television series and over ten motion pictures, Stern worked with Jackie Gleason in New York writing the Honeymooners. He also wrote for the Phil Silvers Show, The Steve Allen Show, and wrote and produced the original Get Smart television series. Recently, Stern published A Martian Wouldn't Say That, which compiled weird and wacky memos written by people in the entertainment industry. Currently, Stern serves as a senior vice president of Price Stern Sloan, where he still writes those hilarious Mad Libs. copyright 2000 by Penguin Putnam Books for Young Readers. All rights reserved.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 3, 2025Verified PurchaseThis is a fun game. We already have the bigger version and when the grandkids are here we like to play it. This one will be good for when we travel. We can play it on our new scrabble board which will hold the pieces in place. We look forward to trying it out.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 6, 2021Verified PurchaseGood game that we (adults) continue to play often. In some ways, a bit like a colour/shape Scrabble. The travel size will be great to take with us when we go camping, though we'll need to put a tablecloth down to be able to play it. Quality of the tiles is very good. Cute, quality bag that comes with them. Takes a couple of tries to really get the scoring down, and you have to be careful to monitor what's legit, but really relatively easy to get off and running, easy to teach others, and not something you're going to forget how to play in 6months. If you're colour blind, though...hmm.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 13, 2020Verified PurchaseTitle says it all, I think. This is a fun game, takes 2 minutes (if that) to learn, and doesn't take up space. Personally I don't care for games that take up half the evening to learn to play; this one is very simple, yet at the same time, it's really challenging. The only 'con' I might have with the travel version is that the tiles are small; unlike a full-fledged Qwirkle game, where the tiles stand erect in front of the person, these tiles are so small (think, Scrabble tiles) that they are always in danger of falling over.
I did notice in a store recently that there is the option of buying tile holders for this game (sold separately) but I'd already overcome the problem. I was at a thrift store and saw an old Scrabble game for sale for $4.00. Bought it, and now I use the Scrabble tile holders for the travel Qwirkle. It's a tight fit to store them in the bag, but it's doable. And I'm probably going to wind up cutting these tile holders down a bit in width so they'll fit easily. Either way, there are solutions.
Bottom line: This is a fun game, and having a travel version comes in very handy. Very glad I bought this!
- Reviewed in Canada on December 13, 2019Verified PurchaseThis is one of my grandmother's favourite games (although she still mispronounces the name every time, lol!). Easy to learn, fun to play, and good for pretty much all ages. We often play at our cottage where my grandmother (who continually kicks our butts at this!), can challenge my mom, myself, or my older kids (7 and 5) to a game. Best played with 3-4 players, but I think you can play with more or less. Pieces are well-made and easy to pick up, colours are vibrant (easy to distinguish between the different images), all in all - a great game!
- Reviewed in Canada on January 18, 2022Verified PurchaseLove this game !!! Suits from 8 yo to 80 yo.. all the family love it. The travel size is brilliant. We previously had the bigger one. Moved countries so bought this one which is way more convenient. The only drawbacks are: if you lose one chip, that’s it, the game is almost ruined. (You can still play but the end competition won’t be as strong)
And it is only for 4 players! So we have to team-up if we’re playing in a larger group. A must-have family game
- Reviewed in Canada on March 11, 2020Verified PurchaseI really like this game- but I’m not a huge fan of the travel version. Considering the size of the bag I think the tiles could have been a bit bigger. They are hard to see when you have them standing on the table because they’re so small, and orange and red are tough to distinguish. I think they should be 50%-100% larger. That would still be a lot smaller than normal quirkle and still fit in the existing bag but be much easier to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars bestes Spiel für zu zweit

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to pack Quirkle set
Verified PurchaseQuirkle is a great game for the whole family. Quirkle is a very nice combination of strategy and luck, and it is very easy to learn how to play. The rules are simple, the package states six and up. In our experience, our ten-year-old grandchildren love it, but the younger ones have trouble with it. Our adult children as well as our friends enjoy playing it with us when they come to visit. We decided that we were going to pack Quirkle for our next road trip or cruise, so I looked around for a travel size to save a little space. The travel size game pieces are roughly half the size of the regular squares, and the travel bag is only half full when all of the pieces in it so it will easily compress to half the volume you see in the photo. The full-size bag and pieces could travel but that bag is full when all of the pieces are in it, and it isn't getting any smaller. On the road, the travel size has other advantages: It takes a LOT less table space to play a game. It is also easy to keep all six of your game pieces in your hand and play from there vs. lining them up on a surface. As the bag is only half full with all of the pieces in it, you can mix them up very easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ben fatto
