Glutagenics for Gut Soothing
Metagenics is a very trusted brand. I tried the Glutagenics 264.6 gram powder for gut issues. The results thus far have been positive. The active ingredients are L-Glutamine, Licorice and Aloe Leaf Gel. There’s a natural flavour added. It’s not tasty, but it’s not bad tasting. You mix the brownish coloured powder with water. There’s a scoop included. There is a bit of sediment in the glass, even after vigorously stirring. It’s an expensive supplement concoction and you are recommended to take this three times daily. My gut feels more soothed taking this. The expense is a consideration. However, it’s an excellent product. It has a NPN but I couldn’t find a best before date on the product.

Ce supplément de L-Glutamine contient 3 500 mg par mesure, une dose adéquate pour soutenir la muqueuse gastro-intestinale.
Certains sportifs l’utilisent aussi pour favoriser la récupération musculaire.
Le produit est canadien et possède un NPN délivré par Santé Canada, ce qui garantit qu’il a été évalué pour sa sécurité, sa qualité et son efficacité. C’est un gage de confiance.
Le goût est très léger, légèrement blé ou végétal, mais quasi imperceptible dans un jus.
En revanche, le prix de 109 $ me semble excessif comparé à d’autres produits équivalents, même certifiés NPN. D’autres marques offrent des formulations similaires pour beaucoup moins.
Note réduite principalement à cause du prix.

Very pricey supplement for 20 day supply, easy to tolerate, no aftertaste/gastrointestinal effects

At ~$98/container (~$109.00 before 10% discount), trying out a new supplement from a new brand is a bit of an expensive experiment. Before choosing this supplement, I tried to research the brand, Metagencis, but I”m not sure if the information I found is for this particular brand, but if it’s the same brand, they seem to have a focus on GI supplements, and this particular one is a new one for them (again, I don’t know if my research is accurate) either way, another important factor for me is that this supplement is produced in the US and distributed in Canada with a valid NPN (9004877), meaning that it complies with a health and safety standards that I’m familiar and comfortable with.
As a middle-aged woman with my share of health issues that come along with age, much of which my research indicates could be improved by focusing on gut health, I prefer trying a natural approach in hopes of it saving me from going the pharmaceutical route. Since we all have different baselines and expectations, results can be subjective, I won’t go into my results or expected results, I’ll focus on some of the more objective factors.
The main ingredients are L-Glutamine (3500mg), Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (500mg) and Aloe leaf gel powder (50mg) per scoop, these are all new ingredients for me, I’m interested to see how it will affect my gut health!
Safety-wise, the bottle arrived with both intact inner and outer seal, with a healthy amount of time before the expiry of 09/2026.
Instructions are 1 scoop 3 times/day mixed in water or juice, there is no indication of whether to take with food or on an empty stomach There are some strong warnings about taking with breastfeeding or on a low protein diet . It appears that this is meant to be a short-term supplement, it’s not meant for use beyond 4-6 weeks. Based on these warnings, I would recommend research first to make sure this formula is safe for a new user.
Finally, the taste and tolerability - I found the powder dissolves easily in water and is very tolerable, no aftertaste or negative gastrointestinal effects, but I will also add that I’m quite used to a range of supplements, so it might not be as appealing to someone who has never taken powdered supplements before.
Price-wise, one container will last 20 days, (at 3 scoops/day, each scoop is 4.41g ) even at the current discounted price of ~$98, it’s steep as an experiment.
