    The mineral oil does seem to separate and you have to sort of massage the tube before use or else you will get an oily glob of vaseline and zinc oxide. The biggest pro of this product is that it is ONLY 3 ingredients if sensitive/allergic skin is an issue. The product is 75% petroleum jelly, 20% zinc Oxide, and 5% mineral oil. That's it. This was the ONLY product I found with limited ingredients, even products listed for 'sensitive skin/eczema'. Other similar zinc oxide barrier creams have a crazy long list of ingredients like cetyl alcohol, lanolin, fragrance, liquid paraffin and various parabens.

    Although this product does not require a doctors prescription it was recommended by a wound care specialist MD. I broke my spine and was in the hospital and rehab for many months and developed bed sores that became difficult to heal, especially the several open soars on my butt. My PCP (primary care physician) referred me to the wound care specialist. He recommended this product 3 time per day and cover with a pad. After 2 weeks I returned to the Doc and the sores were almost healed. He recommended 2 more weeks. After the additional 2 weeks the sores were healed.     Good for treating bed sores and other skin conditions which need a protective moisture barrier film. This paste is very thick and a very little bit (pea sized) goes a long way. It should be spread onto the skin in a very thin film rather than a thick clump. If too much is applied, it just rubs right off. I learned this from a nurse who showed me how to to apply it to my wife's bedsores by sort of gently slapping it on in swipes side to side instead of simply rubbing it on. It is a great healing agent for burns, poison ivy and other skin problems. I'd strongly recommend having a tube or two in your medicine box.
