    This rail is solid and secure. I loved many of the features. First, my father has an old wooden frame bed with a spring base. We added a plywood board to give it more stability. Since there is no boxspring, many of the models with round tubular metal supports under the mattress would feel lumpy. This model has flat tubing which is not felt through his mattress. It also has a strap to wrap around the base or boxspring. The legs are adjustable which give added support. Finally, the basket is handy for anything you want close at hand. I am a physiotherapist who used to do home care. I would recommend this rail to others. Good value for a good product.

    Very sturdy and useful assist bar. The three stars are due to the fact the e-clips used to raise or lower the hand grip part were missing from the box. I was told the only way to get those clips was to return the item and place a new order. I was not interested in doing so as the bar was already in use. Had to buy the clips elsewhere.

However, the strap is not long enough for king sized beds.     This has helped my mother tremendously. Most new equipment I get for her is usually returned, but she said this has been very useful.

    Two suggestions to the manufacturer the small attachment buttons for the bag are very sharp and need to be easily removed if the bag is not used. We’re going to put moleskin over them because mom feels she might cut her hand.

    Secondly, make the required stickers removable, they are so stuck we can’t remove them without damaging the finish.

    This wonderful product became a part of my life a few months ago after surgery. I ordered it and left the box in the bedroom. I had my surgery, came home and hubby had it thoroughly attached to the side of my bed with the strap that comes with it. Now, I have an adjustable bed (not trying to brag mind you, just trying to paint a clear picture) so I wasn't 100% sure if I would need this item. I mean, after all, I could just push the button, have the head of the bed go all the way up and then just zip right out of bed, right? Ha ha, wrong! I had back surgery and even with the bed in the full upright position, I could not even get near the edge of the bed without holding on to the assist bar and slowly turning myself sideways. My muscles were just too weak and spasming like crazy at first. All I can say is thank goodness I went ahead and got this!!

    So obviously I definitely needed it to get out of bed, but I also needed to hold onto it while lowering myself down onto the bed. Then I had to use it every time I needed to switch positions in bed. This bar saved me a lot of extra pain and aggravation and allowed me to have some amount of independent mobility when I would have had little to none. That in itself was the main reason for the purchase and is its greatest feature. However, that's not all!

    Oh no, my friends. This baby has a nice deep pocket on the inside where you can keep your little silver bell that's meant to keep your family at your beck and call (they all pretended they didn't hear it), and your cell phone (so you can call & text them when they ignore the bell, plus everything else you need your phone for of course), and your remotes, maybe some reading glasses and a magazine or small book, and even the odd piece of chocolate if you're into that type of thing, I don't like to judge. But yeah, it holds more than it looks like it does!

    Also worth noting (and again, I'm not rubbing it in) is that if you have an adjustable bed like I do, or you are renting a hospital bed during a recovery period, you may worry that this won't stay in place because the mattress will be moving. We thought the same thing (after it was already on luckily, or we may have decided against using it). I'm not sure if it actually moves any or not because I was always in the bed when I was adjusting it and therefore could not see the assist bar from the outside, but It was always 100% stable and secure. If it did move ever so slightly it did not affect the way it works or is used at all.

    This is a very useful item. I kept it on my bed for two and half months after my surgery and only just had it taken off a couple of weeks ago. We are keeping it because we know how much it will be needed should any of us have a similar surgery in the future. I highly recommend it!
