I am very impressed with this BP monitor. We need to take blood pressure readings twice a day. The larger and older model was very good but too bulky for travel and twice a day use. Choose this new wrist one because it is Canada made. I was able to compare both the old machine and this new wrist cuff one. It was bang on accurate. Excellent device would highly recommend.

Well I've had this monitor for just under 2 years and it just now has started acting up with error messages and issues with the wristband. Now to be fair I use this once daily taking 4 measurements at a time to ensure that I can get a more accurate average reading so it's not like it's sat in the cupboard and is only used occasionally.

First the pro's.

Easy to use,

accurate, for a wrist monitor (remembering that studies show wrist monitors regularly read higher than upper arm ones)
Fairly good on batteries

Stores results for reference.

Con's

Wrist band. The problem appears to be the size of the wristband which is slightly to large ( and I'm an average size guy with a normal wrist size and it's an issue)

Wrist band 2. The Velcro on the wrist monitor has started wearing. So despite cleaning it with a brush and duct tape has become less and less adhesive especially when trying to get it tight.

No carrying case to protect the product.

Size. Small and easy to drop

Other than those issues I'd have no problem recommending this wrist monitor especially since there's been a price drop and it's much better value for cost.

I have been using an OMRON HEM 637 to monitor and control my high blood pressure for ten years. However, the velcro strap is becoming less and less functional after a decade of use, so I bought the LifeSource UB-525CN, largely because of its #1 rating and its being an �鶹�� Choice item. I like wrist monitors, despite their bad reputation, because of their ease of use. The biggest issue with wrist monitors is that they must be at heart level to work properly. OMRON solved this problem by having a built-in indicator that keeps the monitor from working unless the monitor is exactly positioned at heart level, and seems to be very accurate. This is why it was the only wrist monitor recommended by the British Hypertension Society. I was disappointed that the LifeSource monitor does not have this feature, so one has to approximate heart level visually. I also dislike how the monitor sits on my wrist. The OMRON can be read while it is on the arm, but the LifeSource sits sideways so has to be removed to read the monitor. I compared the readout using the OMRON (which still works although I have to press the velcro strap together 100 times for it to work, and even then it separates sometimes), and after about a dozen comparisons I discovered that the LifeSource monitor frequently varies from the OMRON unless one is able to position it EXACTLY adjacent to the heart, something that the OMRON does for you automatically. Unfortunately, without the IntelliSense feature it is nearly impossible to get the position right every time. As a result, my bp readings varied between under 140/90 and over 150/100 - this is the difference between not needing or needing to go on drugs (the threshold is 140/90), not an acceptable variation at all! I will have to return this item, at great inconvenience to myself as I do not have a printer to print off the label (�鶹�� should offer this service for cost; not everyone has access to a printer). If you depend on a blood pressure monitor for accuracy and consistency, I would not recommend this monitor or any wrist monitor without the IntelliSense feature.
