I got these lights for my electric scooter, and overall, I’m pretty happy with them. These little lights are surprisingly well-built for the price. I mounted them underneath my scooter using the included hook-and-loop adhesive patches, and so far, they’ve held up nicely. That said, if the scooter is stored somewhere hot, the adhesive might start to loosen, so I’ll need to keep an eye on that once awhile. The kit also comes with elastic bands, which are a nice touch if you want to attach the lights to a bike handlebar or any slim part of the frame.
In terms of brightness, these lights are no joke—they’re very bright and definitely help with visibility, which is exactly what I was looking for. The remote control is where things get a bit tricky. The instruction manual isn’t very helpful, and I’m still figuring out some of the functions. A couple of things I did figure out is that the brightness control only works when the lights are in steady-on mode. If you switch to flashing or strobe effects, the lights automatically go to full brightness, and you can’t adjust the brightness.
There’s a DIY 1 mode on the remote that lets you alternate between two colours. To customize it, you have to press the colour button of your choice while each light is flashing to lock in your choices. If you want just one colour to flash, you press that color twice during the cycle. That’s about as far as I’ve gotten with the customization. The manual lists what the buttons do, but it doesn’t really explain how to use them effectively, which is a bit frustrating.
For my needs, I’m sticking with the steady-on mode. I just want to light up the underside of my scooter to make myself more visible to other road users, and for that, these lights do the job well. One thing to note is that the lights don’t have any buttons on them—they’re completely controlled by the remote. So if you lose or break the remote, you’re out of luck. There’s just a USB-C port with a waterproof cap on each light, but limits your options if the remote goes missing.
At $19 for a set of four, it breaks down to under $5 per light, which I think is a solid deal for something that boosts your visibility and safety. If you’re into customizing light patterns or want something flashy, the extra modes are there—you’ll just need some patience to figure them out. Just don’t shine them directly at anyone’s face; they’re seriously bright.
