    I bought this for a 2021 Tacoma so I can leave the tailgate open when camping and I'm not around. The instructions are clear and it was relatively easy to install. Only hang up was the metal band length caused a weird angle preventing it from starting to tighten. Reaching in with a small screwdriver to guide it properly into the tightening screw teeth did the trick. It has not interfered with tailgate operation one bit since it's installation. To date I haven't had any reason to remove it but it seems like it should be easy to do if required. If someone wants my tailgate they'll get it but hopefully this makes them look for your truck instead.

The torque of the gate on the lock bent the corner of my tailgate. It shifted my tailgate to the left causing me to accidentally close the gate on the edge of the truck bed, scratching the paint. Now I have a bent tailgate, scratched truck and garbage lock.

So if you should happen to forget to lock the tailgate, and you're going to because I have, and then I started reading where everybody's stealing tailgates, this was a no-brainer, even if you forget they open it up, they can't take it because it takes a key. It's not worth your time and effort to try to tear it off. They'll move on. Go somewhere else, easy to install. Not easy to remove it fit. Perfect. It's a great deal for the money and it was really good. Build quality, it's very easy to install. There's no reason not to get this one. It's a great design, great idea. And super, to protect your tailgate from being stolen, don't be a dummy and say you should have got this one before, believe me, when I tell you, it's something you need and you better get it. And if you don't have your tailgate, stolen, then you're lucky, but there's a good chance that it could happen. Don't wait and close the door after the barn horses got out
