    here's my variation of the other reviewer's recipe

    teaspoon 5 grams
    tablespoon 15 grams = 1 teaspoon
    all dry ingredients used teaspoon, tablespoon, cup

    flour 1 cup
    sugar 0.5 to 0.75 cup
    tapioca/corn starch 30 grams
    evaporated milk 30 grams
    custard power 15 grams , corn flour
    baking powder 10 grams
    eggs 2-4
    water/milk 140 ml
    vegetable oil/butter 30 ml
    vanilla essence 15 ml

    too lazy n cheap to get Bird's custard powder: main ingredient = corn flour
    2nd batch i used 4 eggs, 45 gram of tapioca, wanted a little more chewy. melted butter and vegetable oil. ultra-pasteurized milk (won't spoil for weeks) instead of water. batter not wet, flows very slowly
    i don't fill the edges, let it cook for 20+ seconds, and close handle as tight as possible, flip over to batter to fill other side. too much batter will ooze out, so you will know to load less batter on next try
    cook less for more fluffiness, i personally like em crispy. tough to have both crispy edges and fluffy inside

    I've learned that with HK Waffles, the secret is basically the ingredients, not the maker itself. Most any maker will work. The trick here is to properly grease this one. I have been using Bakers Joy spray which works well but that does mean the first waffle is a throwaway simply because it'll have oil patches and not look attractive. Beyond that you can get good results with this one.

    If I had to complain about anything its that there is no locking clasp. A professional waffle maker will have the ability to lock when rotated so that it presses the waffle on all sides evenly. This is a big deal if you want the batter to fill in evenly and get that smooth texture on the egg divots all around. If your batter ends up too cakey, it will cause the lid to remain slightly open on the handle end. So while its cooking you have to stand there and hold it firmly closed. This could probably be solved with some 3D printed clasp or maybe even a piece of 12gauge wire for the 'DIY problem solver'
