    This lock will keep your average burglar from gaining access to something, as long as they can't carry away whatever you're trying to protect.
    I have a thick wooden chest (with ~120lbs of dumbbells in it to weight it down) that I use to store valuables. I got this lock to turn the chest into a makeshift safe, which I still think it does a decent job at with this lock, hence the 4 star review. My prepper roommate who has a set of lock picks was able to pick the lock in just under 5 minutes, which is good enough for me since most burglars aren't going to spend that amount of time on something that might not be worthwhile. My roommate had also remarked that this lock was tougher to unlock than a lower end brinks lock he had.

    I can pick this lock with a fish hook and it is just a show piece for display. The brass looks nice with the "silver" shackle and locked on a plastic shelf unit with doors. This might keep your kids out but, is not a serious lock for theft prevention. Locking the dish cabinet is a great use. It is a lock for small purposes.
