Great price for glorious Marmite!

- Reviewed in Canada on June 27, 2025Verified PurchaseI grew up on Marmite, and the jars available in Canada have been getting smaller and smaller as the prices have gone up and up. During the pandemic, as British pubs closed and beer production dropped, there was limited brewers yeast extract available to make Marmite, and not much was getting into Canadian shelves. I started buying it online, and found these 500 mL jars. Buying 2-packs is very cost effective, and they last a long time.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 29, 2024Verified PurchaseIt can be hard to tell scale on photos but just to reassure all Marmite-lovers, these are two of the proper big glass jars. Lovely. And a good price compared to the tiny jars you find in the Supermarkets in Canada. Marmite soldiers with runny egg for tea today!!
- Reviewed in Canada on July 18, 2024Verified PurchaseI am in the Marmite camp, 'though I did not grow up with it in England (we had Bovril instead). My breakfast often consists of multigrain toast, Marmite (thinly spread of course) and Nduja spread on top of that. Am I addicted to umami? Or to salt?
- Reviewed in Canada on July 25, 2023Verified Purchaseboth bottles smashed and package leaking.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 26, 2023Verified PurchaseLove the product. Did not like the way the 2 jars were packed. One jar was broken with its contents spilling throughout the bubble wrap. Putting a 'Fragile - Glass' label on the box wasn't enough. Each jar needs extra layers of bubble wrap to make sure glass surfaces are not touching.
The sender responded quickly to my concern and promptly sent a refund though my choice was for a replacement. (The product is difficult to find in the large jars in Canada).

- Reviewed in Canada on April 17, 2023Verified PurchaseThe two GLASS jars were wrapped in the same tube of bobble pack and were bumping against each other. More care needs to be taken in packaging, please.
Value for money is good for Canada as this is the imported product it is competitively priced compared to our domestic version. Plus you get these amazingly huge Marmite jars for kitchen gadgets or as pen holders.
- Reviewed in Canada on November 28, 2023Verified PurchaseIt took 3 weeks to ship from the UK but it was well worth the wait. Both jars were securely wrapped in the large size bubble wrap and arrived safely (unlike another jar from a different UK supplier that broke and made a ghastly mess). Eating some every day, this should easily last a yummy year!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMO MI MARMITE EN MIS DESAYUNOS!

4.0 out of 5 stars Demasiado caro
Verified PurchaseEl envío fue muy rápido. El embalaje perfecto. El precio excesivo. Lo he encontrado mucho más barato en una tienda de barrio. Además este extracto es más líquido de lo que estoy acostumbrada.

5.0 out of 5 stars An acquired taste, but seems to be doing the job healthwise. 500g twin-pack a good deal!
Verified PurchaseThis is an acquired taste for Americans, but once you get used to it, it's quite flavorful and adds some variety to my breakfast toast. I first tried Vegemite in Australia back in the '80s, it didn't appeal to me, and didn't try it again for 25 years. After a few cholesterol tests where my "good" (HDL) cholesterol was well below the desirable range, and already being in the habit of getting regular exercise and eating a lot of vegetables (the first prescription for increasing your HDL), I began researching food sources of niacin (which supports HDL levels) in hopes of not eventually needing to take prescription niacin medication. The Vegemite/Marmite spreads are among the best supplemental sources of niacin I could regularly fit into my diet (While I have not done a side by side taste tests of Vegemite and Marmite, I cannot tell much difference between them and am satisfied to buy whichever one I can get at the best price).
The addition of Marmite to my diet on an almost daily basis seems to have assisted in pushing my latest HDL number comfortably into the desirable 40-59 range, compared to the 20-40 range in tests the previous couple of years (your mileage may vary...).
I've just bought my third 2x500g pack form 鶹, and it is the best price I have found taking into account the Prime free shipping. Certainly better than the small Vegemite jars I can buy locally ($7 for 125g). I have bought similar large packages of Vegemite from another online retailer, but their total cost is higher due to shipping, and their product arrives with a "best by" date only a month or so into the future, for a package that will last me 2-3 months.
