Compete with friends in the multiplayer Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash game on the Wii U system. Along with the fun and dynamic gameplay known to the franchise, surprise your opponents with a new move to the series, the Jumpshot, which sends the ball flying down the court. Change the sport up with new Mega Battles, using the Mega Mushroom to gain an advantage over the competition. Claim your spot in Mario Tennis lore in singles (1v1) or doubles (2v2) as you play with and against family, friends or the CPU using returning and new characters to the series.

This game is compatible with amiibo!

Unleash even more fun with amiibo in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. Tap amiibo figures and play alongside them in Knockout mode to earn special game perks. Play alongside amiibo to earn them perks by winning matches in Knockout Challenge. In Online Doubles matches, you and your amiibo face off against an opponent and their amiibo. Train your amiibo with 8 different stats earned through Knockout Challenge wins.

    Great game. I have had a lot of fun playing by myself and with my niece but I do wish there were some changes. I wish that it was not simply a button-mashing game and involved the wii-motes through swinging motions in order to stay more active. I also wish it was easier to simply start the game and play on the gamepad - instead, you must start the game, then enter a game mode and select to have it on the gamepad. Other than those two things, it is a great game. Reminds me a lot of my Mario Tennis games I had played on previous systems and the fun of playing as your favourite Nintendo characters. Recommend!

    Also, the Mega Mushrooms are a stupid gimmick.

    What you get is fantastic (basic tennis modes, visuals, character roster), but the game feels extremely unfinished. You just get a few tennis modes...that is it. There are no tournaments or minigames, which is VERY disappointing. The game is not worth its hefty price tag, and I only purchased it because it was put on sale briefly for less than half price.
