It's possible to complete the game without visiting every world, which means you'll have to track down many alternate exists to visit every nook and cranny in the game. � You'll find classic power-ups like the Super Mushroom and the Fire Flower in the game, and there are some all-new power-ups that let Mario explore the Mushroom Kingdom like never before. � The Fire Flower transforms Mario into Fire Mario, allowing him to throw fireballs that bounce along the ground and can damage or destroy most foes. � Grab a Mega Mushroom to make Mario grow to colossal size for a short time. Mega Mario can smash enemies, blocks and even pipes simply by running into them. � Snag a Mini Mushroom to shrink Mario down to micro size. In this teeny form, Mario can go into small pipes and travel down tiny paths. Plus, he's so light that he can perform floating jumps and run on water. � When Mario picks up a special blue Koopa shell, he'll transform into Shell Mario. Shell Mario can smash through enemies and blocks like a Koopa shell, and also swim more quickly underwater. � New Super Mario Bros. expands Mario's arsenal of moves to include some very powerful advanced techniques. If you want to uncover every secret in the game, you'll have to master them all. � There are two multiplayer modes in New Super Mario Bros. -- Mario vs. Luigi and Minigames. In Mario vs. Luigi mode, it's brother vs. brother in a race for Stars. The goal of the game is to collect the Stars that appear throughout the stage at timed intervals. If your brother gets a Star first, don't worry. Any time you damage your bro, he'll drop one of his Stars and you can claim it for yourself. This mode is available for two players, and you only need one game card to play.

    It's a good game, but I can't understand why it forces you to use a Mini Mushroom and beat the final boss of a few worlds to unlock some other worlds. You're a one hit point wonder in that condition! I also don't know why the 2D Mario games after World don't control like Super Mario World, which had perfect controls. It didn't have momentum so high that you would slide into enemies or into pits. So this is only good by games in general standards, not by Mario standards.

    This game was my child hood, so I was very pleased to find the game on amazon. There was a slight rattle with the cartridge(I think this is a common problem for new super Mario bros DS, even new copies) , but the game worked fine and is in very good condition! It also came with all the Manuel’s and box, so it is great for collectors

    This game is 15 years old... Surely no one has kept an unopened brand new copy right...? I was fully prepared when I bought this and selected "new" that it wasn't going to be. It was either going to be a used card sold as new, and I was going to be fine with that, or it was going to be a knock off. I mean the 3ds only just recently went out of production and already they have skyrocketed in price, I bought this game for like 30 bucks... I can't be 100% positive, but the copy I received was still wrapped in celaphane with little Nintendo text written on it, the box was pristine, the manual and product info was inside, the game cartridge had the Nintendo seal on it, the inside of the box even smelled like how I remembered which REALLY took me back... What else can I say besides I think I just got a brand new copy of a game from my childhood that someone kept in perfect shape for the last 15 years, and I couldn't be happier or more grateful, thank you so much, I can't wait to beat the game all over again!!! <3

    Still a great game despite being more than 1 decade old. Level design is kinda ancient if you go back and play it but they still are fun and it works. Better than all the iterations that came after it. Could argue that Wii version beats this one but NSMB2 and NSMBU are boring compared to Wii and DS.
