Step 2 - Make the rivet in place.

Step 4 - Once it goes fully tight, you can snap the rivet mandrel off.

Step 5 - Separate the handles on both sides so as to release the broken rivet mandrel.

Quality is really poor.
Purchased this to replace some rivets on the fender liner of a new to me Chrysler car. I wish I would have paid more attention to the previous reviews. Although the tool itself seems to do what it’s supposed to the supplied rivets are absolute junk. The webs of the rivets are super brittle and very thin and instead of collapsing to form petals to hold things in place they just break. The quality is nothing like the Chrysler part. Measuring the web thickness these measure 0.009” while the Chrysler part measures 0.014”. Although they advertise these as nylon I don't think they are. Wasn’t able to complete the task with this and will be returning it for refund. For the price I expected better. In picture Chrysler part is on right.
