- Reviewed in Canada on May 2, 2025Verified PurchaseSolid piece of kitchen equipment. I am now able to grind to a powder easily.
And that's where I may have a problem as I also need it to grind less finely. I have tried to do so and the result was not great. Maybe I need to fine-tune.
But if grinding to a fine powder I would recommend.
I think it is value for money. I did not expect this quality for the price.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 18, 2025Verified PurchaseDon’t recommend. When you spin it something comes off and leaves grains black

[REVIEW REMARKS]
I had my doubts about this grinder when the package arrived and the box looked like it had been beaten up from the inside. The grinder is extremely heavy to what I had expected and it must have shifted a few times during transit. The cardboard box was split in places but I am pleased to say that I received all the pieces and the product was intact, although some assembly is required.
What was missing, however, were the assembly and care instructions. I am not sure if there were supposed to be any, but, having never owned or used a mill like this, I would have preferred the comfort of some included instructions.
I referred back to the manufacturer's listing to find a very quick, undetailed, and nonverbal video of the assembly of the unit. After a few starts and stops, I got the unit put together properly.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer's posting does not include care or first-use instructions beyond this suggestion at the very end of the last point of the listing: "When using a new grinder for the first time, it is recommended to repeatedly grind some particles to remove metal shavings and surface impurities."
Due to the lack of care instructions, I decided to treat the mill the same way I treat my pasta maker: I wiped all of the parts down with a damp, lint free cloth and let them all air dry over night. Then, as per the point above, I filled the hopper using dry peanut shells and ran them through the grinder, starting with a coarse grind and moving towards a fine grind. This produced a nice a mulch for my indoor plants. Lastly, I disassembled the mill and wiped it down with a damp cloth again.
Now that we have used the mill a number of times, there are few points I have noticed:
1) The table clamp needs something to protect the finish of the table or counter you have it attached too. I have started to use a silicone hot mitt, wrapping it around the top, side, and bottom of the table to protect the wood from the mill.
2) Our kitchen counters have a round, bulbus lip that runs along the edge of them. At first, the mill did not seem like it was going to attach to counters. A little finessing and we discovered that opening a bottom cupboard door and angling the clamp will let us get the clamp under the counter far enough to reach the flat part of the counter. This allows the clamp enough wiggle room to completely bypass the counter's rounded and raised edge.
3) If you are looking for a fine grind on a grain, it is best to grind the grain a few times starting with a coarser ground and gradually move finer. This helps stop the grinder from binding up and your arms do not get so tired.
4) If you are trying to achieve the same consistency as flour, grind your grain as per point 3) until you get to the finest grind and then run the grain through a food processor for a few minutes. We have had luck reducing farrow grains this way to produce flour for homemade pasta.
5) The unit is extremely heavy. If you lack dexterity or strength, you may require assistance to setup and clamp the mill to a table or your counter. Once assembled, the mill does require some arm/shoulder strength as well as a wide, forward range of motion.
Final Thoughts: This mill is all business and totally lacking in frills. It does the job. It is a hard worker. It is comfortable as it can be to use, but it is not a 'pretty' addition to your kitchen. This mill is a work horse and I really have to respect it for that. I just wish it came with assembly and care instructions right out of the box.
In the event that experiences change or evolve, updates may be made to this review to address such developments.
- Reviewed in Canada on September 13, 2024Verified PurchaseI Recieved this and put it together, i tried to grind some grain first try and there was a lot of metal filings coming out then the pin broke leaving the disc to spin and not work. Spend a bit more for a higher quality mill you get whay you pay for.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 3, 2024Verified PurchaseI really liket
- Reviewed in Canada on September 7, 2024Some assembly was required, but it was easy. The clamp just barely fits on my countertop so this may be an issue for some. So far it’s been used for mostly nuts and I have to say it does a very good job. I have done some grains which is what I wanted this for. It does a fantastic job turning it into a very soft flour. It does take a bit to figure out the correct adjustments for the grind. Once that is figured out you can quickly set it for different types. The hopper is a very good size without being too large. It will work well for every home health enthusiast.
One of the best features with this grinder is that it is so easy to clean. Made from manganese steel this unit is solid. The unit is well made, grinds well and the price seems reasonable. I would recommend this manual grinder.
