- Reviewed in Canada on August 29, 2020Verified PurchaseMy family had a manual coffee grinder very similar to this when I was a kid, and I have fond memories of grinding coffee for my parents, so I bought this out of nostalgia, not even caring if it actually works well, as I wanted it more for decor. The plaque/brass plate on the front arrived with a typo, though, saying CAFF, instead of CAFE, and because I wanted this for decor, I wrote to the seller asking if they could send me a new plate. They were very quick to respond saying they’d send one and even gave some suggestions as to how to carefully replace it. Wonderful!
The grinder mechanism actually works well, so that is a bonus! It’s well-made and sturdy. It took just a little but of fussing to get the size of grind that I like. (And the instructions seem to be have been translated into English as the grammar wasn’t as clear as it could be, but it was easy to figure out from the diagram.)
One full bowl of beans makes enough for 2 cups of pour-over coffee (or 1 really strong cup), which is perfect for hubby and I. It takes me 5-6 minutes to do the grinding. The coffee tastes so much better having put a little effort into it. (I got rid of my expensive, electric grinder b/c although it ground the beans well, and quickly, it was super loud, and clogged-up easily so I’d spend 5-10 minutes on just unclogging it.) This old-timey handcrank one, has never become clogged so far.

- Reviewed in Canada on October 11, 2019Verified PurchaseI was really looking forward to using this cool retro coffee grinder, but was very disappointed when it arrived. The base on the one I got was glued together crooked and it was noticeably twisted. If that wasn’t bad enough, it was advertised as cast iron, but only the hopper and crank arm are cast iron, the rest is plastic—even the gears! And the lid on the hopper pivots on a screw that gets looser every time you open it so that you are waiting for it to fall off. The whole thing was assembled poorly and just felt cheap and junky. I returned it and got a hassle free refund. Thank you 鶹!!

- Reviewed in Canada on April 9, 2024Verified PurchasePurchased more for its visual appeal than practicality, the Manual Coffee Grinder Antique Cast Iron Hand Crank Coffee Mill adds a quaint touch to our kitchen decor. However, the grinding process proved to be quite labor-intensive. It requires a significant amount of effort, and the grinder's small size adds to the challenge as it lacks sturdiness.
Despite its drawbacks in functionality, we've kept it around as a decorative piece. Occasionally, we bring it out for a bit of novelty, allowing friends to experience the quaint charm of manually grinding coffee beans by hand. It's a cute and enjoyable experience, albeit not the most efficient way to grind coffee, specially not if you drink it everyday.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 20, 2024Verified PurchaseProduct still works but came cracked on wood surface. Not interested in returning the product as too much effort required and no time. Leaving a fair review. Takes a lot of turning to get get enough coffee for a pot. Great for an espresso maker. More for nostalgia and novelty but as far as a decent grinder there is much better out there.

- Reviewed in Canada on February 20, 2021Verified PurchaseThis little goodie works really well! I love it! I bought it to use for when power goes out because I need my coffee or I give a whole new meaning to being a bear without it! I love the look of it. I love rustic. It's adjustable for the type and size of coffee ground you might want. There's an instruction booklet that comes with it that explains this. It's not hard. If you're going to grind coffee with this, I would do it the night before. It does take a few minutes to grind up and I selfishly do not like waiting for my coffee in the morning. LOL
