I purchased this item specifically to make ratatouille. I didn't think I would be able to slice my vegetables thinly or consistently enough by hand. After reviewing several different mandolins, this one looked the best. It is a bit bigger than I expected, but I like that because it adds to the sturdy construction. The blade was sharp enough to cut my tomatoes nice and thin. It was also able to cut a delicata squash easily. I never had anything jam in it, and my fingers stayed safe throughout the process. I behaved myself and used the finger guard, but I forgot about the gloves, so I haven't tried those yet. This is a specialty tool for occasional use in my kitchen and I am confident it will last me for many years!

    I bought this slicer a few months ago and at first I thought I didn’t really know if I needed it but yesterday, I realized what a game changer it is to have when you’re preparing vegetables for a big stir fry. It took a bit of practice knowing how to get the slices perfect but the more you will use it the easier it will become. It’s super easy to clean. The glove is a bit big but still fine and a good extra safety measure.

    This is my first mandolin slicer and although I can't officially compare to others, I do have an issue with this one. The cut options and adjustability are nice but I found it to have too much play or downward movement to the slide plate when slicing. So you may end up with thicker cuts then where you set it.
