This is a great light, the only improvement would be to have the switch on the light itself or base instead of the on the cord. The led is incredibly bright and perfect for working in the shadows cast by the machines in the shop. Magnet holds lamp firmly in place in any position including sideways with it extended out as far as possible.
Some reviewers complained the magnet wasn't strong enough. The steel needs to be atleast an 1/8" thick for this lights magnet to hold properly.
The magnet isn't wide and strong enough to work well on thin sheet metal. Even the $80 plus lights with on/off magnetic bases will struggle or fail on thin sheet metal. I doubt any light on amazon will work on the really thin stuff. This includes the steel used in a lot of work benches, tool chests and drawer units. I know my proper magnetic bases for dial indicators won't work on thin steel.
You could always buy a few more rare earth disc magnets and glue them to the existing one. I'd glue a larger base on this light and use a stack of the long rectangle rare earth magnets if I needed a light for thin steel, a couple layers of them will stick to just about anything.
This is perfect for my application and based on that I give it 5 stars.
