- Reviewed in Canada on July 24, 2025Verified PurchaseI built my new computer with the MSI PRO X870-P WiFi ProSeries Motherboard, and I really like it. Here's what I think:
What I Liked Most
My favorite thing about this motherboard is how easy its BIOS is to use. The BIOS is like the main control panel for your computer. I could easily change settings for my CPU and memory, and check temperatures. It made setting up my computer much simpler and more enjoyable.
Why I Chose It
I picked this MSI motherboard because it offers a great mix of features, reliability, and price. Other motherboards were either missing good features like Wi-Fi 7, or they cost too much. MSI is known for good quality, and this "ProSeries" board seemed strong and stable. It also has many slots for fast storage drives (M.2) and lots of USB ports, which I needed.
Does It Work Well?
Yes, this motherboard works even better than I expected. I needed a strong base for my powerful CPU, lots of storage options, and good internet. This board gave me all that. The Wi-Fi 7 is super fast and reliable. The slots for new storage drives mean my computer is ready for the future. Plus, it stays surprisingly cool, even when working hard, which means it's built very well.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 28, 2024Verified PurchaseThe MSI X870-E Pro WiFi is a powerhouse motherboard that delivers everything needed for a high-end gaming or productivity build. Its support for PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 ensures future-proofing, while the integrated WiFi 7 provides lightning-fast and stable wireless connectivity. The build quality is top-notch, with efficient thermal solutions that keep the system cool even under heavy loads. I was particularly impressed by the straightforward BIOS interface and the ample connectivity options, including USB-C and multiple M.2 slots. The setup was seamless, and it runs flawlessly. Highly recommended for anyone seeking performance, stability, and cutting-edge features!
- Reviewed in Canada on February 9, 2025Verified PurchaseI bought this board to replace a different one that was flaky. This board ticked every single box. And I was told MSI boards were reliable. For the past 4 hours, I have been trying to get my internet to work. It simple will not. No lan, no wifi. Drivers wont install, saying "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled, please plug in the cable" I have updated the bios by using my laptop to get files. The network adapter, or anything for that matter, does not exist in the Device Manager... What a pos product... worst of all, I tried to call in, on a Sat, for support, but was told the people who help those with MB issues only work M-F...
Nothing on their forums has helped, nothing on their Reddit has helped. The board and its 5gig port are crap.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 17, 2025look this board up on the MSI website. this board rocks. even look at the first pic of the box and mobo to see the difference between actual specs and the description. will update after pc build. pairing this board with a 9800x3d and a 4080 super

- Reviewed in Canada on February 19, 2025Verified PurchaseThis board did not work properly with my 9800x3d. Multiple fresh installs of windows 11 on a clean nvme, all drivers properly installed, etc etc. With this board my system was horribly unstable. Starting at the windows login, the pc would stutter and lag, keyboard inputs were delayed, the mouse cursor would barely move. I tried every bios version, different ram, different nvme, chipset drivers, lan/wifi drivers. It just wouldn’t work. I thought maybe my cpu was bad but I bought an asus b850 plus after a recommendation from Reddit and now my system is perfect.
Cons: didn’t work properly
Pros: looks cool
- Reviewed in Canada on April 23, 2025Verified PurchaseTerrible board. Socket is creating excessive heat and after all updates, there’s a PCIe lane that doesn’t work and doesn’t detect it in the bios. Not recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultrafast Connectivity Good AM5 Mobo | Lower PCIe Slot is Awkward | Ineligible for Promotions
Verified PurchaseMany features on the X870-P motherboard for $200. BIOS is easy to use and it was simple to create an XMP profile that got me DDR5-6200 using a 64GB DDR5 kit that is rated at 6400mt/s. I am still happy with 6200(!) and believe faster speeds will be possible. The motherboard can accept up to 128gb of RAM for sure and should be expandable to 256gb in the future with BIOS updates.
Wifi-7 via Qualcomm chipset is outstanding.
Multiple NVME slots and traditional SATA port
The lower PCIe slot is super close to other electronics on the board, it might very difficult to install a second GPU.
This model is ineligible for promotions.
AIPC features include NPU overclocking which sound awesome and are unavailable with the 9600X.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Board When the Price is Right
Verified PurchasePurchased this board for $209 after much research on the subject. It checked most of my boxes at the right price. It supports USB 4, has a strong wifi / bluetooth antenna, will support up to 96GB of DDR5 Ram at a low overclock in the 4 x 24GB configuration (it will support more ram but not overclocked), is designed for AI use, had all of the ports I was looking for, and has a PCIE x16lane that will support Gen 4 X4 which is good enough for a second non gaming graphics card or other device. The AI designation is no joke as the BIOS has a separate category for overclocking the NPU (neural processing unit) which is an innovation that may or may not take off in desktop computers. The BIOS is fairly easy to navigate. MSI bundles software that allows you to control the RGB, fan speed, and update the BIOS through a windows app. The board seems fairly futureproof as it supports AM5 and PCIE 5 for both the main graphics card and primary NVME port. The other NVME ports are easy to access as well. As of January 2025 there is no support for wi-fi on windows 10--only windows 11. The board is well supported on Linux but you must upgrade to the newest kernel. The 5Gbps Lan port was not natively supported in the Ubuntu 24.04 kernel installed in January 25 which made Linux installation a pain. Once the kernel was updated, wi-fi and the ethernet port work great. I am currently running and highly recommend the AMD Series 7 7700 8 core processor. It costs $100 more than the 7 5600 series but the included OEM upgraded RGB cooler plus 2 additional cores is more than worth the price. I currently have 2x24 GB G.Skill Flare X5 modules in ram running at a modest 5200mhz. The price was also modest. My main complaint with this board is that the PCIE 16 Gen 4X4 slot is located on the end of the board. It is impossible to use this slot without a riser cable if you want a working front audio jack. The optional extra PCIE power connector (which is a great feature like the two PCIE power connectors for the processor) is also right in the way of any expansion card. To me this is a serious design flaw and its hard to believe someone signed off on this design when there are two perfectly good PCIE x16 3X1 slots that could have been swapped. (the less expensive lower chipset card without the USB 4 has this designed properly. Go figure). So far the board has been working great and produced above average passmark scores. The number and layout of the fan headers is also a plus. At $209 this card is hard to beat. At $239+ I was considering just spending the money on a tai chi lite to get true dual graphics card support. Tip: the board serial number used for warranty registration is located on the side of the ATX power connector. Write it down before installation.
