Wonderful starter kit if you’re in the market for a lighting set up.

Being able to change the colour temperature of the lights is great, and being able to adjust the intensity allows for more control was a huge selling point for me (it’s all done via a remote too, so no need to keep going back and forth to adjust).

Honestly, it’s a great product for the price point and I used mine for a long while before investing in some more heavy duty lighting.

In an ideal world, I’d want for the quality to be a little more premium feeling (mainly the stands) - I know you could likely invest in other stands and these do the jobs - but some stands just feel like they’ll fall over at any second. So, not faulting the light set up on a whole - I just wish the stands felt a little more grounded?

I will say, they are super portable though, so travelling with them is a breeze!

If I was in the market for a portable set again, I’d definitely invest getting these.

I picked this kit up for use on a small portrait project. Sadly, the light output is just not where I was hoping it would be. If you're shooting a totally static subject and can afford to use long shutter speeds, they're fine. For portraits though, I'm having to bump my ISO many stops higher than I was hoping. Depending on your use case, you'll also need to make sure you kill as much ambient light as possible since these are nowhere near bright enough to crush it.

As other reviewers have mentioned, construction is ULTRA flimsy. We're talking dollar store quality. If you're going to extend the stands to full height (which you probably will for at least one of them for seated portraits), I'd recommend adding some weight to the bottom. At full height, the stands flex noticeably with the weight of the softbox/bulb. It hasn't fallen over on me yet, but I'm afraid to even sneeze anywhere near it. You'll want to line a leg up with the direction the softbox is facing to give it a bit more stability.

The remote control is puzzling. It's got button labels that generally have absolutely nothing to do with their function. "Section" switches between tungsten-ish/warm white/cool white. "Auxiliary" adjusts brightness. The mind reels.

Can't speak to use in video, but I imagine it might be okay there if you've got both lights going and aren't shooting 60fps+. Might try it for a laugh on a conference call one day and see.

Anyway, let's face it, you're not going to be getting high quality equipment for a hundred bucks and change and a constant light source is unlikely to compete with the output of a strobe. So if you can accept not shooting at (or even close to) base ISO, these *kind of* work. If you're wanting to shoot at base ISO or higher shutter speeds, these are not going to cut it for you whatsoever and you'll need to shell out for strobes.
