MICTUNING 4-in-1 DC Multimeter

MICTUNING DC multimeter is able to measure voltage, current, power and energy of most electrical devices (100A max.), which features high accuracy, low power consumption and easy reading large display. It also functions beyond voltage alarm, energy value reset, data storage, backlight control and measuring range option, suitable used for RV battery, voltage regulator, device detection and replacing various pointer-type electric meters.

TIPS:

If you only want to monitor charging performance of the battery, please wire #2 meter.

If you only want to monitor discharging performance of the battery, please wire #3 meter.

If you want to monitor charging and discharging performance of the battery, please wire both 2 meters.

NOTE:

The shunt can't be wired on the positive side, please wire it to the negative side.

The sequence of the wires on the shunt can't be wrong, please wire it exactly the same as described.

The blue wire must be connected to the big bolt on shunt,don't connect it directly to the negative battery.

Je n'ai jamais eu de problèmes avec eux. J'en ai présentement 4 en fonction.
Pour les personnes que cela peux interresser , j'ai un de mes multimètres que je déconnecte chaque nuit
(automatiquement) et qui conserve les informations qu'il possède jusqu'au levé du jour.
Je n'ai jamais testé si les informations sont encore disponible après plusieurs jours sans alimentation.

I put it in a small plastic box with plugs on either end so I can use it on my tender or my charger. The shunt shouldn't generate much heat as the highest amperage I intend to measure would be 5A. Wired it up using polarized plugs and used a 7.5A fuse to protect everything, pics attached.

Basically, it does what I bought it for, well.
Backlight is very bright. (You can turn it off.)
Shunt is wired for current usage (my choice) and looks good.
Screen has a lousy viewing angle. Straight on or nothing. I have it installed quite low, so that’s inconvenient.
Mounting the shunt is a challenge, since there’s nothing built-in for it. There’s a smaller one available that I would have preferred for this reason, but I found it too late.
No insulation on the shunt.

This device is simple to wire up, but double-check, no, triple-check your wiring before you power it up as there does not seems to be any protection built in (not unusual for these types of current measuring devices). The worst thing about it is that the mounting tabs are designed for very thin panels, whereas most panels I deal with are at least 1/16" more. Double-sided tape on the back of the bezel solves that, but even the lip of the bezel is thin. I would say that the thin mounting tolerances would knock this down to a 4-star rating, but I feel that the price is so exceptionally affordable, that it makes up for it.
I bought two of these for my RV -- one to monitor charging, and one to monitor discharging. Such an arrangement still cost less than other battery monitors, and I can now see (well, calculate, actually) my charging efficiency. I would rather calculate charging efficiency by hand than rely on some pre-programmed values because from what I know of deep-cycle batteries, each has their own voltage/state of charge (and discharge) characteristics and I think even the best battery monitors use a one-size-fits-all approach.

Arrived in 8 calendar days. I used it to monitor the current draw from my RV house batter bank. It yields four readings simultaneously, battery voltage, draw current, draw power and accumulated "watt x hour". The voltage reading is quite accurate and the current reading is accurate to 0.1 amp. Quite satisfied for my application. The size of the display is ok and the price to value ratio is ok too.

However, the current measurement is very tricky. It never gives an accurate reading. This is due to that this device is designed working in the negative loop which is the common in any vehicle. This makes the measured current being bypassed, the meeter only gives a fraction of the current consumed. If you connect this device in the positive loop, the device could be burnt in seconds. It is useless to my project to observe the current consumption.
