This Globe was a bit of a challenge to put together. I broke a piece and had to wait more than a month for the replacement. Poor instructions. Found a youtube video that helped. Some of the pieces didn't fit tightly and were always coming apart. But it's gorgeous when completed.

Building this model left me eager to hurry so that I could see the finished product, while also eager for the build to last as long as possible because I was enjoying it so much.

It’s very well-designed, though I don’t recommend working on it if you’re in an impatient mood. Patience is key so as not to force things and end up needing to glue a piece back together (which I learned from experience). But my patience was rewarded with a beautiful display item.

I also recommend having a few extra helps handy, such as toothpicks and wood glue (just in case), thin needle nose pliers for the occasional need for extra pressure (very carefully applied), and a thin file for when the sandpaper provided doesn’t quite help a piece to fit as it should. I don’t consider it a negative that such tools are useful for this model, as the reason I enjoyed the build process so much is that it involved a sort of craftsmanship and ingenuity for which some simple tools came in handy.

This will be displayed in our living room, as it’s worth displaying where it can be shared and enjoyed.

I bought this for a family swap.. with the hopes I would get it. After pulling the best number in the swap I knew this was going home with me!

Things to know:
Pay attention to the instructions.. like which direction things should face, making sure pieces are seated completely before moving on.

THIS IS NOT A 30 MINUTE BUILD.. this is like a 3 hour, take your time, do it right build. Trust me, I ran into what I thought was a problem, so I walked away for a few hours and came back to it... Was able to figure out what I did wrong and correct it easily without getting frustrated.

LIGHTLY sand all the pieces when you take them out of the boards, just around where they were attached. It will help make them fit and look better.

Use both hands while popping pieces from the boards, don't rush it. The woods is strong, but don't be a bull in a china shop.

WAX when it says to wax. I actually used some butcher block wood conditioner/wax on the moving gears as the wax provided broke into little pieces with my aggressive waxing. *Note you can also use candle wax if you run out

I did end up using the tape strips on the globe part to secure them fully. *Tip* make sure to press down on the tape piece BEFORE trying to pull it off the page(before even placing it) .. that will ensure the tape part comes up with the strip. (This happens with many kinds of strip tapes) I cut the pieces smaller, just enough to cover the bottom inch of each tab and the top 1/2 inch to secure all in place. Tape goes on the wood part of one bone, then on the globe plastic of the piece that is already down.

I love this and will be buying more! So much better than watching TV, or playing on a phone, or doing dishes!!!
