Product description
The Robinson family was going into space to fight for a chance for humanity. Now they are fighting to live long enough to find a way home
"DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!"
From the producers of Deep Blue Sea and Poseidon comes Lost in Space, a high-octane sci-fi adventure through time and space, where a family adrift in a distant world must overcome adversity in the face of incredible odds.
The year is 2058. With Earth on the brink of collapse, the Robinson family is chosen to lead a critical mission to colonize a distant planet aboard the Jupiter 2 spacecraft. But the mission is sabotaged by the traitorous Dr. Zachary Smith, and the ship veers off course and plunges through a rift in space-time, leaving the Robinsons stranded in an unknown universe. Now lost in a hostile alien galaxy, the family must trek through treacherous environments, battle deadly creatures, and avoid Smith's unpredictable schemes. As tensions rise and survival becomes uncertain, their greatest challenge may be holding together as a family.
Lost in Space is a thrilling tribute to the classic 1960s TV series with dazzling visual effects and an all-star cast including William Hurt, Mimi Rogers, Matt LeBlanc, Heather Graham, and Gary Oldman as the nefarious Dr. Smith. Dive into the epic adventure of the Space Family Robinson, available for the first time on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in a stunning new restoration!

- Reviewed in Canada on March 30, 2020Verified PurchaseThe ending of that movies stayed with me for years... but when a friend suddenly decided to offer me the original series, I just had to go back to it for its strange aesthetics and philosophical musings.
There is so much more in there than I remembered. Strange how the ecosystem / fake news wars became much more true, how the collapsible helmets are now a thing, that... and the somewhat "shot in the dark" assumption about the rise of social media and video journals. That version might have been too much centred around making Don the Hero, yet... It manages to stay true to what Lost in Space has always been about. A archetypal family of its era trusted against impossible circumstances and tested to its mettle.
Plus... its frighteningly accurate on the little parts it tried to depict about our future.
Some might say even more so than the new Netflix version.
Through the new one also has its charms.
But really, the real kick out of it is that Lost in Space now covers three generations of the familial archetype. Showing the slow degradation of human relationships from the perfect familial unit, to a flawed but still working family, to a now utterly decomposed and barely related bunch of individuals.
There is some truth in here.
And this movie might just have immortalized the point where it all began to turn wrong.
Sadly, we can't all have the genius boy building us a time bubble machine to notice our mistake and go back the easy way. Sometime, we just have to live with some choices and consequences. Something else that movie had warned us about beautifully with the fate of "old Will".

5.0 out of 5 stars Caution Spoilers!!!! A great film!
Verified PurchaseThis is one of those films, you either love or hate it. I never watched the Lost in Space series so never knew what to expect and I really love this film!
The cast is strong with Matt Le Blanc, Gary Oldman, William Hurt, Heather Graham, Mimi Rogers and a young Lacey Chabert. The family get sent on a mission to colonise a distant planet and Gary Oldman sets out to destroy the ship using a robot but he gets caught on the ship after being betrayed by the people who hired him. Chaos ensues and the robot destroys the controls and the family awake from cryosleep. They end up getting caught in the gravitational pull of the sun and have to use the hyperdrive to escape. This causes chaos and they become lost and come across 2 abandoned ships and from these they believe these people have collanised the planet without them. Their ship gets damaged by the spider aliens on these abandoned ships and they crash land on a planet and set about fixing it. Once there they come across distortions in space and time, caused by future versions of the son and Gary Oldman. They set about rectifying this and come out alive the other end.
Its a really good film, cast are great, I really enjoy watching it. I think the key is not taking it too seriously.
