Product description

Review

"Lore of the Tides is the perfect conclusion to this duology that will rip out your heart, stomp on it a few times, and then put it back together again. I was completely entranced by the magic, the world, the characters, and the way Sbrana reminds you to stand up in a world that tries to make you feel small. It was a battle cry and a love letter, and I was here for it all."

Nisha J Tuli, International Bestselling Author of Trial of the Sun Queen

"With poetic, atmospheric prose, LORE OF THE TIDES takes readers on a thrilling journey that is equally beautiful and treacherous. Sbrana’s phenomenal talent for world-building shines through this absolutely stunning conclusion to this duology." — Sydney Shields, author of THE HONEY WITCH

“The plot unravels deliberately and deliciously, luring readers into its world and captivating them with multidimensional characters who will keep them on their toes. Sbrana is a writer to watch.” — Publishers Weekly on Lore of the Wilds

"Sbrana’s worldbuilding is richly detailed, with much of the action taking place in the final third of the book, and the cliffhanger ending will have readers breathlessly anticipating the sequel. Cozy fantasy readers should take note." — Library Journal on Lore of the Wilds

I think I enjoyed this one more than the first! There was so much pain and angst mixed with adventure and more magic!
And that end had me gasping at parts (if you know, you know!)
Even the banter in some of the lighter parts of the story really made it enjoyable.
I would recommend this duology to any fantasy/Romantasy fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book with amazing characters

I loved this book so much, and it's such a great ending to this story! I really wanted more of Lore's world, and I'm glad we got to see more of it in this book. I would read another book set in this world in a heartbeat! We meet so many new but cool characters, and this adventure is new and exciting, but one that Lore really needed to go on. She is so amazing, and I loved seeing her explore a new world and navigate changing relationships.

I was curious to see Lore's relationship with Asher (AKA Syrelle) with how Lore Of The Wilds ended. I wasn't the biggest fan of Syrelle, but I did love Lore and Finn together. I also thought that all of the characters grew a lot in the this book, but I especially loved seeing Lore grow and tap into her inner strength. I also loved seeing her make a lot of different decisions and seeing her try to balance what she wants for herself, for her friends and for the people of Duskmere.

This book has a very different feel to it, and it's not one we see in the first book. I think it's a combination of Lore being more aware of what's going on and the difference in setting. I love the forest we saw in the first book, but I also love the underwater world we see, as well as the time spent sailing across the ocean. I really felt like I was in Lore's world, and it was so vivid and full of detail. Her world really came to life, and it was the little things that made her world feel so real.

One moment that really stood out was when Finn offered to braid Lore's hair, which I absolutely loved reading. My hair is nothing like Lore's, but no matter what's going on, her hair still needed to be taken of care, and I was glad that Finn was able to care for her in that way. It's not something I would stop to think about, but it is something that others have to think about, and I'm glad we got to see that.

My Rating: This is a 5 star book in my opinion! I love the world and the characters and I can't to have this book sitting on my bookshelf. I haven't talked about the cover, but it is absolutely beautiful, and I would 100% buy a print of it to hang up on my wall. I don't reread books often, but I know this is one I'll be revisiting again!

4.0 out of 5 stars A satisfying conclusion

In the second book of The Lore of the Wilds duology, we find Lore still reeling from the betrayals of book one and imprisoned on a ship. Her adventures once off of the ship are quite exciting. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happens next. The development of the characters was strong and I developed an investment in their journeys and future. There are further adventures and dealings with the Royal Court that were also intriguing. Lore is also grappling with complicated feelings that draw her to two different males. If you are looking for a fun read with plenty of action, with a strong romance subplot, you should give this book a read.

Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted book. #loreofthetides #thenerdfam @thenerdfam

5.0 out of 5 stars A Stunning Conclusion!

    Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
    Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. I am reviewing it voluntarily and all opinions are my own.

This brilliant conclusion to the Lore Of The Wilds duology was everything I wanted it to be and more! Here, the cottagecore vibes of the first installment have been exchanged for an adventure on the high seas that's every bit as enthralling, if not more so. Speaking of adventure, there's enough of it in Tides that it feels considerably less cozy than Wilds. Still, there are plenty of quiet, lovely moments, and thanks to Sbrana's lyrical writing, a sense of wonder imbues every page.

I love how Lore is a fiercely brave book nerd who would do anything for her people. Her growth in this duology is so believable and naturally written. The arcs of the other two main characters are just as satisfying. I was especially impressed with how the author dealt with one person's shocking actions at the end of the first book (iykyk), gradually giving Lore (and readers) answers while adding depth to the character.

The romance in this book is achingly beautiful. Tides also has more spice than Wilds, though it still doesn't come anywhere close to being a smutty read overall. There's just enough heat and passion to reflect the deepening relationship without overpowering the rest of the story.

I disagree with reviewers who have stated that the use of "good girl" is out of place in this type of fantasy book. I may be biased because I'm a fan of the trope, but for me it worked perfectly and didn't feel jarring at all.

The way this book builds on the intriguing magic and the enchanting world introduced in the first novel is incredible. Every time I pick up a fantasy book, I long to be utterly transported to another realm, and Tides delivered. I wasn't ready to stop exploring when I turned the final page. Fingers crossed for future spinoffs!

At its heart, Lore Of The Tides is a story of fighting for justice. Of good overcoming evil. Of the power of community, friendship, and love. A story to give readers hope. It's true that there are many other stories that share these themes. But in Sbrana's gifted hands, they become fresh again.

The story's climax had me on the edge of my seat as I raced through the pages. And that ending! It gave me chills I haven't felt since the conclusion of another beloved duology closer, Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig.

I will eagerly devour whatever books Analeigh Sbrana chooses to bless us with in the future. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

4.0 out of 5 stars An improved return

I definitely think this story was an improvement on the first novel. I enjoyed the creatures, the love of books and libraries, and the mystical journeys. Lots of fun found family, dark history, and unknown intentions. It did still feel a bit rushed with more telling than showing. The spice is improved but not the yearning or slow burn. The novel feels like a YA novel where the spice feels unnecessary or inappropriate in context. Though it is fun, it just doesn't seem like it advances the plot at all and just feels like an afterthought. I did enjoy how many worlds we entered, but so much time was spent on side quests that the final battle could have used more time and attention. A solid novel and I'm interested to watch her craft grow.

This was really good. So much action and adventure. I loved the writing and the world building and the magic. I also loved the love triangle! Two fae males and a human coming into her power.
Analeigh did a great job with this duology!
