    I have a couple of these, and I'm about to buy another. I use these for a supplemental water source for our hens that's easier to change out and move around than their larger 5 gallon one, and it's a great size for switching out every other day or so. In the summer, I keep one filled and in the freezer to switch out so that they can have cool water as it melts. They hold up pretty well, and I've never had the tank part break, even with freezing them many times, but I have broken one of the bases by tightening it too hard, to where it cracked. I'd still give it five stars though, since my other two have held up to similar and worse abuse. I used to always handwash these, but I put them in the dishwasher now, and they've been fine. My hens all like it and use it fine, but they're not picky with water, and will drink from nasty puddles even, so I'm not sure their endorsement counts.

    I like this waterer because its easy to clean and screw the top/ bottom on. It is a good size and not too heavy for me. I have carpal tunnel in both hands and this is ideal to carry full of water with no problems. The red base is sturdy also. My other waterer ( lavendar base, not this brand) is a terrible design and i have a terrible time hooking it together. It has a slide and grooves and screwing it togethet is very frustrating. So I recommend this one hands down.
