- Reviewed in Canada on August 25, 2019Verified PurchaseThis is one of the best tools I've purchased as it really says in the tittle "handy packer". I have done quite a few greasy
bearings and the mess it the worse part of it. The packing hurts your fingers the grease is everywhere. I have used the ones with the cone by connecting a grease gun but even then you still need to clean up the grease on the cone.
Until i came across this, never even new about this until a recommendation. I liked the positive reviews but was skeptical on the size of bearings it would hold. Purchased and arrived and after noticing the size the size is about about 6 inches wide diameter. I thought it would be hard to insert grease into the packer but i was wrong. The packer can be easily filled with grease by a grease fun or just putting on a glove and scooping the grease inside because the
grease can be easily left in without issues.
Packing a bearing is easily as 3 steps. 1. Insert bearing (cone side down) 2. Put plunger on 3. Push down until grease
comes out. Then your done. The plunger does take somewhat excessive force to push down. It's not something you will just squeeze together but will need somewhat of body force to push it down. I personally though that the grease would bypass the outer seal on the packer and make a mess. No. There was only a tiny bit of grease bypassing the seal.
The grease remains inside for future use and has a cap that goes over it to prevent smell of grease. The mess is nothing compared to other methods especially the doing it by hand. The tool worked flawlessly and makes me wonder why i didn't buy this tool years ago. I can fully say this is a handy gadget everyone should have. No mess and easy
clean up and a tool that makes me money. Love it.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 18, 2020Verified PurchaseI love good tools, ones that do exactly what you hope they will. This is one of those cases, I went to repack the bearings on my trailer, all 12 of them. At first i was disappointed and thought the tool was no good as I couldn't get the grease to go through the bearings and push out the old stuff. I then realized the old grease had gone totally hard and that no amount of forcing was going to make this work. I washed the old grease and crud out of the bearings and with no effort at all they accepted grease all the way through. It does a far better job of greasing the bearings then you could ever do by hand in seconds instead of several minutes per bearing. You also stay quite clean in the process, I didn't even bother with gloves as the only grease i got on me was my finger tips during final install. To load the tool i wouldn't bother with the zerk unless you really enjoy pumping a grease gun, it holds an entire tube so just use the plunger from an empty gun to push everything out of the tube into the cup of the tool, 20 seconds, job done. It also saves grease as there is no wastage, 3x 7000lbs axles so 6 wheels I still have about a quarter of a tube left. This is one of the most satisfying tool purchases I have ever made, even if I will only use it once every couple of years.

- Reviewed in Canada on February 9, 2024Verified PurchaseThis is the cat's @$$, simply put. No more messy hand packing or using those grease gun packers that take forever. Simply put your bearing in, giver a good push and voila, one packed bearing ready for install. Cuts packing time down by about 90% as opposed to hand packing. For $20 you won't hear me complain. If you ever forsee yourself needing to pack bearings on anything more than a couple times a year just do yourself a favor and buy this. Everyone at my shop steals this all the time because it simply works quickly and effectively.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
Verified PurchaseThis thing is the bees knees! I used to wear a tube of grease over half my body trying to pack by hand and then my carpal tunnel would kick in and I'd drop the bearing and have to start over. Not with this! Easy to use and fast too. I do like to spin the bearing and pack it a couple times with this, but it's still way faster than you can pack one by hand. Just get this now and be done with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great
Verified PurchaseI saw this product on a YouTube video. For the past 40 years I greased my the bearings on my RVs by putting grease in my palm and forcing it through.
After watching the video I decided to try this. Serious improvement over the old way.
This does the job in about 1/3 the time, and it does it completely absolutely uniform. You do need to take your gloved fingers and smear the excess around the outside of the rollers.
Happy with the product. We'll worth the price.
