Liqui Moly's Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 is a fully synthetic, premium low-friction engine oil for all-season use in gasoline and diesel engines without diesel particulate filters (DPF). The combination of innovative base oils - based on synthesis technology and the latest additive technology - guarantees an engine oil that reduces oil and fuel consumption and that ensures fast lubrication of the engine. Depending on the manufacturer instructions, oil change intervals of up to 40,000 km are possible. Ideally suited for modern gasoline and diesel engines with multi-valve technology, turbocharger and with or without charge air cooling. Especially suitable where there are long intervals between changes and heavy duty engine requirements. I have been running nothing but Liqui Moly in my 911 for the past 4 years. Best product out there in my opinion, but it is still only motor oil !

    I recently purchased this Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 for my VW, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the results. The previous owner had been using the wrong oil specification, which triggered the persistent check oil light that wouldn't go away until I changed the oil. While the new oil was new and clean, it was simply the wrong oil.
    After doing some research, I discovered that this oil has the proper VW 502 00/505 00 approval that my car actually needs. The difference was immediate and remarkable. I changed the oil and filter using this Liqui Moly product, and within a few drives, the check oil light finally disappeared completely. It was such a simple fix for what seemed like a major problem.
    What really impressed me is the quality of this German-made oil. My engine runs noticeably smoother and quieter now compared to whatever inferior oil was in there before. This oil has official approvals from vehicle manufacturers including VW 502 00/505 00, which gives me complete confidence that I'm using exactly what my VW was designed for.
    The 5-liter container was perfect for my oil change, with just a little left over for top-ups. The oil has excellent flow characteristics and you can tell it's a premium product just by how it pours. Since switching to this oil, my car feels more responsive and the engine seems to run more efficiently.
    If you own a VW and are dealing with oil-related warning lights or just want to use the proper specification oil that your car deserves, don't hesitate to get this Liqui Moly. It's worth every penny to know you're using the right product with proper manufacturer approvals. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one - proper oil and a fresh filter can solve so many issues!

    Overview

    Jan 2020 Updarte - The PCV Valve was replaced, and that did reduce oil consumption. In addition, oil consumption has continued to drop since switching over to Liqui Moly. Currently at approx 2,100kms before I need to add a litre.

    My 2014 Audi Q5 started burning oil late this summer ☹ Oil consumption peaked at approx. 1 Lite every 760 kms. No luck with the dealer, they had no interest in diagnosing the issue…they just recommended an expensive repair, before even looking at the car.

    The Audis are notorious for burning oil…but not to this extent. I tried a PCV Diaphragm repair kit…consumption went up?? I researched a lot on Google and there were several discussions on oil…not viscosity…but brand. I was skeptic, but while I searched for a local mechanic to actually diagnose the issues…I tried the Liqui Moly 5W40, based on what I had read in a few Audi forums.

    My expectations were zero, so I’m pleasantly surprised (and totally confused) that oil consumption is now dropping. It currently at 1275 kms per litre. Plus, I didn’t do a full oil change with the Liqui Moly (lets be serious…the oil is not getting old enough to need changing) so I’m just topping up when the cars diagnostics tells me to add a litre. No clue why this oil seems to change consumption…

    I have an appointment with a garage tomorrow to do a more scientific diagnostics…but in the meantime…this oil helped “stop the bleeding” Price is only marginally more than other synthetics at the local CT STore.

    For anyone who knows Audis…the 2014 version of the 2.0 Liter Turbo (TFSI) is not supposed to suffer from the same piston/ring issue as the pre 2012. It could be seals or gaskets, PCV cover etc. I will know more by Friday.

    I’ve used this exact oil in a highly tuned Audi RS3 for 5+ years. It performs flawlessly in keeping the engine running smoothly. No leaks, no overheating, no problems with the turbo. I use it in combination with LiquiMoly Ceratec. As the name says, this oil is an extreme long-life oil and can extend oil changes for up to 40k km. While I would never drive this many miles between changes, I have on occasion gone 2 years between changes as my tuned car is driven infrequently. Even after 2 years, this oil came out of the engine looking like brand new oil. The color was still clear, viscosity was excellent, no sludge or separating. And this car is stored in a hot humid garage in Florida. I’d buy this oil at any cost.

    I've been using this oil for a while now since switching from Mobil 1 and I can't say enough good things about it. Mobil 1 is a great oil and frankly more readily available than this stuff and oh cheaper to-boot. But for my "baby" nothing is too good. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised at how well Liqui Moly holds up after 6k miles. Still golden color and minimal burn off / oil loss. Maybe it's psychological but it feels like my engine runs happier, smoother and quieter with this product. During my most recent oil change I also used Liqui Moly ProLine Engine Flush before draining the old oil and it was amazing to see the amount of sludge / deposits that were in the system even though I religiously change my oil every 5-6k miles though product is rated for 10k+ change intervals. I also added Liqui Moly Createc friction reducer to the new oil. Jury is still out as to the effect it will have but if my experience with the other products is any indicator I should be pleased with the results.

    Now, I did my research before using these products and everyone out there has an opinion on everything from "don't believe the hype" to aspiring chemists who give you their take on the class / chemical make up of the base and product. You'll go nuts reading and making sense of it all so my recommendation is go with your gut and choose the product that YOU feel works best...especially for your wallet. You can't go wrong with Liqui Moly, Mobil 1 or any of the other FULL SYNTHETIC oils. I did read however that in the US, oil manufacturers can call their product full synthetic is it has synthetic components whereas the products that originate from Europe / Germany must be 100% synthetic in order to carry the label. Makes me even happier to be using Liqui Moly manufactured in Germany. There are Liqui Moly products made in the USA so make sure the bottle says Made in Germany to be sure you are getting a Full Synthetic product.

    Please note: If you car is under manufacturer warranty though technically it cannot void the warranty even if dealer says otherwise, as a matter of personal preference I would only use the oil and not the additives like the flush or friction reducer. No sense getting into a war of words with the dealer/manufacturer. Since my car is a 2002 the only person I have to negotiate with is myself.
