As the world teeters on the brink of war in 1937, two young souls separated by an ocean are about to discover a connection that defies logic and time.
Grace Fitzgerald, a fiery-haired dreamer, longs to escape the confines of her windswept Dingle fishing village. Across the Atlantic, Richard Lewis, heir to a Savannah banking fortune, suffocates under the weight of societal expectations he can't quite understand.
When their worlds collide through a twist of fate, Grace and Richard uncover a bond so profound it shakes the very foundations of their existence. As Europe inches towards chaos, they find themselves caught in a whirlwind of discovery, challenging everything they thought they knew about themselves and each other.
From the rugged Irish coastline to the genteel streets of Georgia, 'Lilac Ink' weaves a tapestry of love, destiny, and self-realization against the ominous backdrop of impending global conflict. Grace and Richard must navigate not only their impossible connection but also the turbulent waters of family expectations, social norms, and their own conflicting desires.
This mesmerizing journey through time and place will leave you questioning the very nature of fate and the extraordinary power of human connection. In a world being torn apart, can two hearts, inexplicably linked, find a way to beat as one?

- Reviewed in Canada on August 10, 2024Verified PurchaseAnother beautiful story from the fertile mind of Ms Grainger. One more to make me laugh and smile and, at times, look at her words with eyes blurred by unshed, happy, tears. The second book in the series is approximately three months away and I have it on preorder already.
Please read this beautiful, heart-lifting story and, if you’re not already one, you’ll become, a fan of Jeans.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 24, 2024Verified PurchaseHer books are so well researched and have a way of making the characters real. I'm salivating waiting for the next book... It just can't end there; there must be more to these lives. It never gets gossipy; its always a more enlightening glimpse into that era.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read!
Verified PurchaseI absolutely adore this series by Jean Grainger! I’m currently reading Book 4 and look forward to going to bed every night just so I can read more. Jean is such a wonderful story-teller with a brilliant imagination and the characters in this series are so fun to get to know. If you enjoy historical fiction, especially in the World War Eras, you won’t be disappointed. The setting of these books primarily takes place in the small fictional town of Knocknashee in Ireland and then Savannah, Georgia in the US. As someone who lived in Georgia for many years, I was so impressed how well Jean, being from Ireland, was able to capture the nuances, attitudes and description of the very southern town of Savannah. I have really enjoyed all of Jean Grainger’s novels, but the Knocknashee series may be my favorite yet!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story to open a new series
Verified PurchaseI have loved this authors books since I first read the acclaimed Tour Series
She never disappoints and Lilac Ink is another winner, a story set near the start of WW2 and weaves the different lives of 2 people oceans apart with contrasting backgrounds and daily lives who are brought together in very unusual if not fairytale like circumstances. Most of all a story that leaves the reading longing to know what happens next? Can’t wait for book 2
Comhghairdeas Jean
