The set consists of mostly wooden pieces which is evident by the weight of the box. The complete set allows your child to build a cute farm layout complete with train track with tree crossover, barn, windmill, trees, farm animals, fence, train cars, tractor, flat cars, crane truck, pasture and fish pond with fish and fishing pole. This is a really well conceived and thought out toy set. The set will challenge younger children to use their minds in order to layout and assemble everything correctly. Once assembled the set will provide many quality hours of fun playtime.
Generally, the wooden pieces are well made with just the occasional rough edge that was quickly remedied with some fine sandpaper. The track fits together quite well but I personally wish that the joints were just a wee bit tighter.
My grandson has enjoyed many hours of quality, old fashioned play with this set. The first time he played with it he required a little bit of help to put everything together but since that initial time he has been able to assemble everything by himself. The real hits for him were fishing in the pond and loading and unloading logs from the train cars with the magnetic crane.
Overall, based on the fun and enjoyment that my grandson has had with this playset I highly recommend it. Treat your child or grandchild to a taste of toys from the past.
