I liked this product. The tube was made of a soft plastic material, ostensibly identical to the material that comprises most tooth paste tubes. You squeeze gently and the glue comes out--not too quickly, which is good. I used Gleam Glee Leather Glue to glue leather (or faux leather) patches to the elbows of a leather blazer. The patch came in a roll that had adhesive backing.
You are wondering why I used leather glue on a patch that came with its own adhesive. The reason is that I tried the adhesive-backed leather patches last year. In three days, though, the patch was hanging off. Note: I didn't use leather glue last year; just the adhesive that came with the patch. I had cleaned the surface of my faux leather coat with Isopropyl alcohol 99%, waited for it to dry, and pressed the patch to the coat. The patch looked good; it simply didn't stay put. So I purchased the review product. My only concern was doubling-up on the glues: combining the adhesive-backed patch with the (hopefully) tougher leather glue. It's been a couple of weeks and not only was the adhesive-backed patch compatible with Gleam Glee Leather Glue but thus far it's so solid I don't think I could tear it off with pliers. If someone wants to pay me for the glue, I'll give it a go.......
The manufacturer is not kidding. This is strong glue made specifically for leather. Follow the instructions. In my case, I put some heavy books atop the patches for 24-hours. I had a hunch that this leather glue would work for me and the results are far better than using the adhesive-backed patch on its own. I've yet to try the leather glue on a different sort of job but based on the results here this stuff is tough. A nice surprise: it's more like a gel than a runny liquid glue. It doesn't tend to leak out. You use the little plastic applicator that comes with the glue, spread the stuff consistently and evenly and it works! I still have plenty left over. If you buy this dedicated leather glue, don't risk combining it with other adhesives like I did. (I just had to know!) This is strong enough on its own.
